Colonel Robert J. McKee Jr. retired from the United States Air Force and resides in Omaha, .

Colonel Robert J. McKee Jr. is the former Chief of the Concepts Division for the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Col McKee is responsible for the formulation, coordination, and management of nuclear weapons employment concepts, guidance, and plans. He identifies trends and developments and identifies impacts and implications to current strategies and objectives. He identifies and defines functional support requirements, exploits technological concepts and manages operational deployment and contingency planning.

He began pilot training in 1966 at Reese Air Force Base, Texas. After completing B-52 Combat Crew Training School at , California, he was a B-52 pilot at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio and participated in the Arc Light Missions in Southeast Asia. From May to October 1969 Colonel McKee attended helicopter conversion training at , Texas and , Florida. Upon completion of training, he was a special operations helicopter pilot at Tuy Hoa , Republic of Vietnam from October 1969 to August 1970. In September 1970 he was reassigned as a helicopter pilot at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. He became a war plans programmer at Offut Air Force Base in July 1972. After completion of Air Command and Staff College, he returned to Offutt in July 1978 as a war planner on the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff. After completing the National War College the colonel returned to Offut as Chief, Office of Plans and Policy in SAC Data Automation. In July 1984, he became the Deputy Director for Plans and Programs for SAC Information Systems and in March 1985 he became the director. In October 1985 he was assigned as Director of Simulation and Analysis for the SAC Deputy Chief of Staff, Strategic Planning and Analysis with concurrent duties as Deputy Chief, Single Integrated Operational Plans Simulation and Analysis Division, Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff. He assumed his Current duties in July 1986.
