Instructors…TAKE HOME THE 2012 SHURI CASTLE CUP  For every place your students win; your dojo will receive points. 1st place=3 points, 2nd place= 2 points, 3rd place=1 point. Winning a Grand Championship is worth 4 additional points for your dojo! The school with the most points at the end of the tournament will be awarded the prestigious “Shuri Castle Cup.” The more students your dojo brings the better your chances of bringing home the cup!

In 2001, Eb Welch and Mike Eggleston’s dojos were battling neck and neck for the cup. When the dust settled and the points were tallied, Eggleston’s dojo (EKS) won by a margin of only 8 points! In 2002, Mike Eggleston’s (EKS) dojo and Rodney Cheeseman’s (Kintora) dojo were going back and forth all day and only at the men’s black belt finals, it was decided that Kintora dojo would take home the trophy by edging out Eggleston’s by only 2 points!!! In 2003, the defending Shuri Cup dojo was without their leader. Rodney Cheesman’s Army reserve unit was activated. Without their dojo leader, Cheesman’s dojo fought a tough battle, but when it was all said and done, Eggleston’s EKS dojo was the decisive winner. In 2004, it came down to the black belt men’s division at the very end of the tournament!!! Cheesman’s dojo vowing to win the cup back, edged out Eggleston’s club by only 6 points. In 2005, they said it couldn’t be done… Until now, Rodney Cheesman’s Kintora dojo ran away with the cup two consecutive years. The first “back-to-back” winner!!! In 2006, Rodney Cheesman’s Kintora dojo set the standard with a un-precedented THREE-PEAT!!! In 2007, straight out of the Deep South, “Champion” dojo with their famous Sensei Aziz Kheder battled and just barely won the cup by stopping the Rodney Cheesman’s Kintora Express’ quest for a fourth straight victory. In 2008, Rob Silverman’s dojo debuted at the Battle at Shuri Castle resulted in going home with the Shuri Castle Cup. In 2009, Rob Silverman’s dojo came even stronger than the year before and won by a landslide of points … He says he is going to tie Cheesman’s three-peat record and then some! In 2010, Three-Peat accomplished!!! Silverman’s dojo has vowed to be the first 4-time Champion in 2011. In 2011, newcomers, Axsom Martial Arts burst on the scene with a big group of great students to win the cup for the first time out! Its 2012, who is up for the challenge? Will it be your dojo??? If you’re scared… Say you’re scared!!! 
