BASIC SYNOPSIS OF RULES The championships will be run using traditional JKS Shobu Ippon rules.

Traditional, clean, white only.

Kumite: Women and kids may wear a chest guard. Men must wear a box. Gum shields and WKF or JKS approved mitts must be worn. No other protection or padding will be allowed.

Kata: Heian kata will be used for the eliminations until the best four. Then the best four may chose their kata and it will be judged by points.

Any category with insufficient entries may be merged with another. Category 3a and 4a will be divided into boys and girls if sufficient.

All competitors are expected to behave in a manner appropriate for a traditional karate championship. Bad behavior will result in immediate disqualification.

ANY COMPLAINTS MUST BE DONE IN WRITING AND GIVEN TO THE HEAD TABLE. ALL COMPLAINTS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DEALT WITH AND AN ACTION WILL BE DECIDED. ANYONE WHO COMPLAINS DIRECTLY TO REFEREES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. CONTINUED BAD BEHAVIOUR WILL RUN THE RISK OF THEIR ENTIRE GROUP BEING DISQUALIFIED – WITH NO REFUND.

KARATE FOR DISABLED PERSONS (I-KARATE) THERE WILL BE A SEPERATED TATAMI FOR DISABLED PEOPLE THE JUDGE AND REFEREE WILL BE SELECTED BY IKF BELGIUM Important notice: referee and judges in karate gi. When you inscribe please describe exactly the sort of disability. IKF Belgium is free to choose or change all categorys regarding to the disability! Please understand that this is not a easy category to select. We apologize for any misunderstanding or mistakes. JKS Belgium cannot be held responsible for any injuries. Every competitor needs to have its own insurance with their own association, and will be able to show at the entrance. No valid insurance will result in no participation!

Level 1: good to perfect control over body no mental disability Level 2: control over body with slight deviation or not able to use 1 hand or 1 arm, light mentally disabled Level 3: more deviation less control or not able to use 1 hand or 1 arm, or light mentally disabled He or she can move the wheelchair. Working with red and blue bracelets. Level 4: more deviation than control or not able to use 1-2 hands or 1-2 arms (electric wheelchair), or mentally disabled. Buddy needs to move the wheelchair electric or normal wheelchair the, competitor can point the direction.

9W+ LEVEL 1 kumite Mixed Buddy and roller. Buddy does 5 different attacks, can be a combination of maximum 2 attacks. Roller can do after counter attack threw are do a wristlock. Rollers and buddy move after every exercise. Using of brakes and control of wheelchair. At least 1 Kiai at the end. Out of wheelchair is disqualified.

10W+ LEVEL 1 kata Mixed IKF kata with movement. Back on the same spot. Final 4 free choice or style kata! Referee no counting.

11W+ LEVEL 2 kumite Mixed Buddy and roller. Buddy does 5 different attacks, can be a combination of maximum 2 attacks. Roller can do after counter attack threw are do a wristlock. Rollers and buddy move after every exercise. Using of brakes and control of wheelchair. At least 1 Kiai at the end. Out of wheelchair is disqualified.

12W+ LEVEL 2 kata Mixed IKF kata with movement or turning on the spot. Final 4 free choice or style kata! Referee no counting.

13W+ LEVEL 3 kumite Mixed Buddy and roller. Buddy does 5 attacks, can be a combination of maximum 2 attacks. 16W+ LEVEL 4 kata Mixed IKF kata 1 turning on the spot. Present with buddy. Final 4 free choice style kata! Referee counting red and blue.

17W+ team kata 3 persons Mixed IKF kata free choice. Final 4 free choice or style kata! Referee counting or front person in wheelchair.

- Every I-karateka must be accompanied by a personal attendant -wearing a tracksuit- who will bring the karateka to the tatami (free entrance). This attendant needs to be mentioned at inscription together with the buddy (buddy only for wheelchair). - Double check your inscription form before the start of the competition. - Obligation to fill in the form for use of photographic and/or video material (agree or deny). - Obligation to show your insurance papers before the start of the competition. - Every I-karateka is obliged to wear a kimono. (karate trousers are not obligated) - Every I-karate competition is carried out on official tatami. - Transport to the location of the competition is to be arranged by the participant. - Available parking on the spot. - We expect all participants to respect the behaviour code of a traditional karate championship. Inacceptable behaviour from the participant or from the attendant will result immediately into disqualification. - Potential complaints must be handed over in a written form to the main table. The complaints will be dealt with immediately. Direct complaints towards the referee will not be allowed and will lead to disqualification.
