Ensemble of 8 mixed voices who portray additional D’Ysquiths, ancestral portraits, Mourners, Newsboys, Lady Hyacinth’s Entourage, Mistress, an Inspector, a magistrate, Lady Eugenia and various other roles.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Quasimodo - the deformed charge of Dom . Optimistic, warm, desires a place in the world “Out There”. TENOR, must be able to sustain a Bb for 18 – 20 counts.

Esmeralda – The gypsy girl, beautiful inside and out. Befriends , loves Phoebus, despises the lecherous Claude Frollo. ALTO, to a “D”.

Dom Claude Frollo – Quasimodo’s mentor and father figure. Self-righteous, he is quick to condemn others, but lacks the ability to see inside his own soul. BASS – must be able to sing, comfortably, to a LOW “E” or “D”

Phoebus de Martin – the gallant captain of the guard of the Cathedral. Falls in love with Esmeralda and his life is changed. BARI-TENOR, to “A”

Clopin Trefoullile – The King of the gypsies. He is the voice that begins and ends our journey. BARI-TENOR, to “G”

The Congregation:

14 actors, 8 MEN, 6 WOMEN, mixed vocal ranges, who are the ensemble for the show.

They play various characters throughout, principally the gargoyles and saints who adorn the cathedral. There are many, many solo opportunities.

**All of the principals begin as members of the congregation, and return at the end of the story. They are NOT counted as part of the 14 actors.

The Choir

The Hunchback of Notre Dame requires a choir of mixed voices (SATB). We will be casting 20 individuals for this important role. Needed are strong singers who can sing harmony, with good pitch.

**The choir speaks as the voice of conscience, and the voice of Notre Dame, herself. They sing throughout the performance. This work cannot be performed, nor can it be as powerful, without the choir members.

Billy Elliot, the Musical

Billy Elliot – a boy who stumbles into a ballet class…….and stays, developing a passion for dance. AGE, 10 – 13; VOCAL RANGE, E3 – C5

**This role will be cast with multiple actors. There will be a six-month preparation period with the choreographer. Dance experience a plus.

Dad – Billy’s stoic father. A widowed miner, struggling to maintain a household in lieu of a work strike. Deeply scarred by the loss of his wife, Billy’s dancing sends him into a rage, but he ultimately supports his son. AGE, 40’s/50’s; VOCAL RANGE, /BASS BARITONE

Mrs. Wilkinson – the ballet instructor who discovers Billy’s talent. At odds with Billy’s father and brother, she teaches Billy on the side so he can be ready for an audition at the Royal Ballet School. AGE, 40’s; VOCAL RANGE, must be able to sustain HIGH “B”

Michael – Billy’s best friend, who loves dressing in women’s clothing (just like his dad). Jovial and outspoken, he encourages Billy to “Express” himself. AGE, 10 – 13, VOCAL RANGE, BOY ALTO

**This role will be cast with multiple actors. There will be a preparatory period to be determined by the choreographer. Tap dancing a plus.

Grandma – Billy’s eccentric grandmother, forgetful and aloof. She harbors a bitter resentment of her deceased husband. If she could do it all over again, she’d be by herself. AGE, 60’s/70’s, VOCAL RANGE, ALTO

Tony – Billy’s older brother. Loud, crass, and totally devoted to the miners in their work strike, he is sometimes abusive with Billy. AGE, LATE 20’s, EARLY 30’s, VOCAL RANGE, BARI-TENOR

Debbie Wilkinson – Mrs. Wilkinson’s daughter. Mouthy and bossy, she taunts Billy in ballet class. AGE, 10 – 13, VOCAL RANGE, ALTO

**This role will be cast with multiple actors. Dance a plus.

Mr. Braithwaite – the accompanist for the ballet class. AGE, LATE 30’s, VOCAL RANGE, BARITONE

Ensemble – a group of adults (ALL AGES), young girls, and a small boy who populate the town, play police and miners, and the people at the Royal Ballet School; Mixed Voices (SATB). Dance experience a plus, especially for the little girls who make up the ballet class.

PETER PAN

Peter Pan – Seeking a male teen, 14- 15 years old with a high voice. Most of the original keys are being raised to accommodate. Must be a good mover and up to the challenge of stage flight. Dance experience a plus. TENOR

Mr. Darling/Captain Hook – dual role. Age 40’s/50’s. Exasperated by his family as Mr. Darling; splashy, flamboyant and equally frustrated with his pirate crew as Captain James Hook. Strong character role. BARITONE with some lower notes.

Wendy Darling – Early teens, 12 -13, Keeper of the Pan stories for her family, especially her younger brothers Resists when told she’d have to leave the nursery. Must be up to the challenge of stage flight. ALTO

John Darling – Wendy’s younger brother who wants to be all grown up like his father. AGE 10 – 11, Usually plays Peter Pan when he and John pretend they’re in Neverland. Must be up to the challenge of stage flight. BOY ALTO

Michael Darling – The youngest darling child. AGE 7 – 8. Always lagging behind, John is always eager to play or cause mischief. Must be willing to “Fly”. BOY ALTO

Mrs. Darling – Mother of Wendy, Michael, and John. AGE 30’s/40’s. Warm, nurturing, she only wants the best for her children. SOPRANO

Mr. Smee – Captain Hook’s bumbling sidekick. Comic foil and confidante to the Captain. Totally devoted to Hook, he means well and tried hard to please him, often with amusing results. THIS ROLE MAY BE CAST AS MALE OR FEMALE

Tiger Lily – Native American Princess. AGE 15 – 20. Brave, fearless, and fun-loving, she and Peter make a great team for singing and mischief. She is the leader of the Native Americans who live in Neverland. Dance experience a plus. HIGH ALTO/MEZZO

The Lost Boys - a group of young people, AGES 7 – 16, who form Peter’s band of mischeivious urchins. Completely loyal to Pan, the Lost boys are determined that they will “never grow up”.

ENSEMBLE – All ages, all body types, all voices. The ensemble brings Neverland to life as Native Americans, the Darlings’ Maid, Nana (the dog) and the crocodile, and Hook’s pirate crew. Lots of opportunities for humor; movement/dance will be used in the show.
