GOING TO COMMUNITY PLAYERS

Welcome to Community Players! We look forward to having you as our guest! COMMUNITY PLAYERS THEATRE

I am going to Community Players to see a show. GOING TO THE THEATRE

If I drive or ride in a car to the theatre, I will park on the street in front of the theatre or in the parking lot across the street. LOBBY

When I enter the building, I will be in the lobby. At the front desk someone will be there to greet me and help me get my tickets. SNACKS AND DRINKS

If I get hungry or thirsty, I can visit the concession stand for popcorn, cookies, candy, and Coke products. If I just want a drink of water, I can use the drinking fountain by

There are bathrooms in the lobby down the hallway. I can use the bathroom at any time during the performance SEATS

When I’m ready, I can find my seat inside the theatre. If I need help finding a seat, I can ask an usher. THE STAGE

The play will happen on the stage. Only people who work at the theatre are allowed on the stage. If I need to leave the theatre, I can go out the same way I entered but I should walk slowly. LIGHTS AND SOUNDS

There may be different colored lights and the lights might flash during the play. There might be music and sounds that could sometimes be loud. I can always leave if I feel uncomfortable. ACTORS

There will be actors in the play. The actors will wear costumes and pretend to be characters in the story.

Quasimodo is a character in the show who rings the bells of . When the people of see him for the first time, they treat him unkindly because they don’t understand him.

Frollo is the Archdeacon of Notre Dame and Quasimodo’s caretaker. He dislikes all gypsies, until he develops feelings for the beautiful . ESMERALDA

Esmeralda is a gypsy who travels from city to city, dancing and entertaining the townspeople. When she meets Quasimodo, she is the only person to show him kindness.

Phoebus is a former soldier who has been promoted to Captain of the Cathedral Guard. After seeing Esmeralda in the town square, he falls in love with her.

Clopin is the proclaimed leader of the gypsies. He also serves as a narrator for the show. THE ACTING ENSEMBLE

The rest of the cast are members of the acting ensemble. These actors play a variety of roles such as townspeople, gypsies, and statues. They also help to narrate the show. INTERMISSION

The Hunchback of Notre Dame has an intermission. That means half-way through the show there will be a 10 minute break from the play. CLAPPING

At the end of the show, the actors will come onto the stage and bow. If I want to, I can clap to let them know I enjoyed the show. The clapping might be loud. AFTER THE SHOW

After the show has ended, the actors will come out from backstage and I can say hello to them if I want. They won’t be in costumes anymore, so I might not recognize them right away!

When I am done, I will leave the theatre to go back home.
