>> Meaningful Economics & Entrepreneurship Competition

The MEE competition is a program designed to recognize student achievement in acquiring and applying knowledge in economics, entrepreneurship, and personal finance. The competition is sponsored by the Oklahoma Council on Economic Education. In addition to addressing the state standards in economics/social studies, the event works on many levels such as creative and critical problem solving and thinking, teamwork and collaboration, and communication skills. There are three main contests, all done by 4 member teams of third to fifth graders. Contests involve team assessment, production and problem solving. >> Activity – Teachers here is a sample of a type of problem that will be used at the MEE competition. You can use this to prepare your students for the MEE Competition or just a fun class activity. Theme park attendance has been dropping because of other entertainment options. Work as a team to create a theme park that kids want to go to. Once you decide on a theme park idea you will need to do the following: • Create a name for your theme park. • Create a poster that advertises your park; and a 30 second commercial that tells why kids should visit your theme park. • Be sure to include where customers can get more information or buy tickets to your theme park.
