Το έντομο M. hellenica εντοπίστηκε για πρώτη φορά εκτός της φυσικής του εξάπλωσης στην Μελβούρνη και Αδελαϊδα (Αυστραλία) το 2014, δημιουργώντας εκτεταμένες ζημιές σε φυτείες P. radiata. Στόχος της παρούσας μελέτης είναι η μελέτη του φάσματος των φυσικών εχθρών του M. hellenica στην Ελλάδα και η ανάδειξη του πλέον κατάλληλου για πρόγραμμα βιολογικής καταπολέμησης. Μέθοδοι: Ωοθεσίες του εντόμου M. hellenica συλλέχθηκαν από διάφορες περιοχές της Β. Ελλάδας, και εκεί καταμετρήθηκε η παρουσία του αρπακτικού N. kartliana αλλά και απομονώθηκαν/ταυτοποιήθηκαν οι υπόλοιποι φυσικοί εχθροί που εντοπίστηκαν. Αποτελέσματα: Το δίπτερο N. kartliana ήταν ιδιαίτερα συχνό σε όλους τους πληθυσμούς του εντόμου M. hellenica που εξετάστηκαν με παρουσία περίπου 50%. Επιπρόσθετα εντοπίστηκαν και διάφορα είδη άλλων Τάξεων (Κολεόπτερα, Λεπιδόπτερα, Θυσανόπτερα, Νευρόπτερα). Συμπεράσματα: Σύμφωνα με τα έως τώρα αποτελέσματα, το δίπτερο N. kartliana θα μπορούσε να αποτελέσει έναν παράγοντα βιολογικής καταπολέμησης του κοκκοειδούς M. hellenica στην Αυστραλία. In 2014, GPS was found on ornamental pines in Melbourne and Adelaide (Australia), causing significant damage mainly to Pinus radiata plantations. The aim of this investigation is to study the natural enemy complex of GPS in Greece and identify the most suitable biological control agent. Methods: Egg-masses of GPS were collected from different areas of Northern Greece, where the occurrence of N. kartliana was assessed. In addition, other natural enemies were also isolated and identified. Results: The predatory fly N. kartliana is abundant in all GPS populations studied in Northern Greece, with a rate around 50%. Several other species belonging to other Insect orders (Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, Neuroptera and Thysanoptera) were also identified predating and parasitizing M. hellenica. Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας ήταν η εκτίμηση αλλαγών στις κλιματικές συνθήκες κατά τη μετανάστευση της Caretta caretta (Linnaeus, 1758) στη Μεσόγειο. Μέθοδοι: Διερευνήσαμε πιθανές μεταβολές στη θερμοκρασία της επιφάνειας της θάλασσας υπό τις παροντικές (1987-2016) και μελλοντικές (2017-2096) συνθήκες κατά μήκος των μεταναστευτικών διαδρόμων από τις παραλίες ωοτοκίας στις περιοχές τροφοληψίας. Αποτελέσματα: Σε τέσσερις βασικούς μεταναστευτικούς διαδρόμους βρέθηκε ότι η θερμοκρασία της επιφάνειας της θάλασσας αναμένεται να αυξηθεί μέσα στα επόμενα 80 χρόνια. Οι παρατηρούμενες μεταβολές παρουσιάζουν ένα πολύπλοκο χωροχρονικό πρότυπο. Κύρια συμπεράσματα: Η έρευνα αυτή για πρώτη φορά παρέχει μια εκτίμηση των επιπτώσεων της κλιματικής αλλαγής στις θαλάσσιες χελώνες κατά τη μετανάστευση. Η γνώση αυτή είναι αναγκαία για την εφαρμογή αποτελεσματικών μέτρων διατήρησης σε ένα διαρκώς μεταβαλλόμενο κλίμα. Here, we assessed changes of climatic conditions along the post-nesting migration corridors of loggerhead sea turtles, Caretta caretta (Linnaeus, 1758), in the Mediterranean region. Methods: We explored differentiations of sea surface temperature under current (1987-2016) and future (2017-2096) conditions along migration corridors between breeding and foraging grounds. Results: Along the main four migration corridors, sea surface temperature will significantly increase within the next 80 years. The changes exhibit a complex spatiotemporal pattern. Main conclusions: Our study offers the first insights of the expected climate change impacts on sea turtle migration. Such knowledge is vital for efficient conservation actions under a changing climate. Μέθοδοι: Επιλέχθηκαν προς ανάλυση έξι λειτουργικά χαρακτηριστικά των πτηνών (μάζα σώματος, αριθμός αυγών ανά γέννα, περιοχή τροφοληψίας, υπόβαθρο τροφοληψίας, περίοδος δραστηριότητας και τροφικό επίπεδο). Τα είδη τοποθετήθηκαν στον πολυδιάστατο χώρο των λειτουργικών χαρακτηριστικών χρησιμοποιώντας την ανάλυση κύριων συντεταγμένων (PCoA) και υπολογίστηκε ο όγκος του χώρου που καταλαμβάνουν τα είδη (λετουργική ποικιλότητα) για την κάθε χρονική περίοδο. Αποτελέσματα: Οι πρώτοι τέσσερεις άξονες της PCoA ερμήνευσαν το 64.87%, 57.63%, 53.61% της διακύμανσης για τις τρεις χρονικές περιόδους αντίστοιχα. Τα ξενικά είδη κατέλαβαν διαφορετικό όγκο στο χώρο των λειτουργικών χαρακτηριστικών σε κάθε χρονική περίοδο, αντικατοπτρίζοντας τη μεταβολή της λειτουργικής ποικιλότητας μεταξύ των χρονικών περιόδων. Κύρια συμπεράσματα: Οι λειτουργικές διαφορές των ειδών μεταξύ των τριών χρονικών περιόδων ήταν εμφανείς. Επιπλεόν, τα ξενικά είδη κατέλαβαν αποκλειστικές περιοχές μέσα στο χώρο των λειτουργικών χαρακτηριστικών, καταδεικνύοντας μεταβολή των λειτουργικών χαρακτηριστικών των ειδών στο χώρο και στο χρόνο. Using a variety of primary sources, including vase paintings, mosaics and literary accounts from the period, this paper will seek to inform the reader how the mythic accounts of the boar hunt by the Greeks turned into a trophy hunt for the Romans. Besides looking at the two powers, a careful look at royal Macedonian boar hunting culture will seek to “bridge the gap” between the cultural transfer from Greek to Roman. iv Introduction Here was the lair of a huge boar among some thick brush-wood, so dense that the wind and rain could not get through it, nor could the sun’s rays pierce it, and the ground underneath lay thick with fallen leaves.

Corresponding author: *E-mail: [email protected] Abstract An annotated checklist of the fish species of the Madagascar EEZ (southwestern Indian Ocean) comprises a total of 1,798 species in 247 families. 158 species are recorded from Madagascar for the first time. The majority of the species is autochthonous; 28 species have been introduced, mainly in freshwater habitats. The fish fauna is mostly marine (95.4% of the total number of native fish species), with the Gobiidae, Labridae, Serranidae, Pomacentridae and Apogonidae being the families with most representatives; among the 90 native freshwater fish species (adults mainly occurring in freshwater), the Cichlidae are the dominating family, but there are also two endemic families, the Bedotiidae (16 species) and Anchariidae (6 species). The fish fauna at Madagascar is typical for offshore, high islands in the southwestern Indian Ocean.
