Gustavo Murer Secretariat : Silvina Ceriani and Pablo Bramajo 3 Imagen de tapa: Daniela Di Bella 4 5 6 Dear SAN members, friends and colleagues: On behalf of the 2015 organizing committee and the SAN Board of Directors, it is my great pleasure to welcome you all to our XXX Annual Meeting, to the SAN-ISN special small conference and to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Sociedad Argentina de Investigación en Neurociencias. SAN was created by a group of pioneers who felt that it was the right time to acquire a differential identity from the classical school of biochemistry that characterized Argentine science. It was born as the Sociedad Argentina de Neuroquímica and one of its foundational missions was to promote the development of neurochemistry in our country. Ranwel Caputto, Department of Biological Chemistry, University of Córdoba, best known forhis work on ganglioside biochemistry in the nervous system, was SAN´s first president. Very quickly Argentine neuroscience grew in size and scope, beyond the borders of neurochemistry. A group of scientists, young investigators and students decided to organize yearly workshops to discuss their work in a friendly atmosphere and in a secluded place that would foster intense scientific discussions. Thus, the Taller Argentino de Neurociencias took shape. It was characterized by an important participation of students who were highly involved in the organization and by its lively discussions. During 2009 and 2010 SAN and Taller organized joint meetings in order to re-unite the entire neuroscience community. SAN renovated its name to Sociedad Argentina de Investigación en Neurociencias, and since 2011 the SAN Annual Meeting has been our yearly reunion. The Argentinean neuroscience community continues to grow and SAN has more than 600 members. It encompasses all areas of neuroscience, from cellular and molecular to cognitive and computational sciences. The XXX Annual meeting will be a clear reflection of the growth and strength of our society. With 400 participants, a very high quality scientific program and a shift in venue from the hills to the sea, we look forward to a vibrant, lively and exciting meeting. We want to thank the invited speakers who have traveled long distances to share their recent discoveries and all SAN members and participants for your continuing support to the society.     PM World Journal Project Management Update from Argentina Vol.V, Issue XII – December 2016 Cecilia Boggi www.pmworldjournal.net Regional Report Project Management update from Argentina By Cecilia Boggi, PMP International Correspondent Buenos Aires, Argentina Once again the PMI Southern Cone Tour 2016, a multiple Congress that has been held in the Latin American South Region since 2005 with the participation of the PMI Chapters of the countries of Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay, was developed with great success. This tour began with its first event in the city of Montevideo, capital of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay. This congress started a series of 13 consecutive events that take place in the South of Latin America during the last week of October and throughout November, ending in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on November 25th. As for Argentina, the Southern Cone Tour already took place in Mendoza on October 28th and 29th, organized by the PMI Nuevo Cuyo Chapter. With an audience of more than 120 participants at the National University of Cuyo, I had the honor of being the Keynote Speaker of the Congress on October 28th with a talk about "Leading Change through Emotions". On Saturday, October 29th, the Tour Cono Sur Mendoza moved to outdoor, at the Monteviejo Winery, where a Coaching for Competences activity was carried out, winery was visited, and ending with a lunch and wine tasting. Other speakers of very high international level contributed their knowledge and experiences to this important event, which has been developed in the city of Mendoza since 2008, improving year by year the level and quality of the event.

Universidad Nacional de Río Negro, Sede Andina [email protected] Abstract Public perception studies show that the stereotypical images of scientists are dominant. This work analyzes how scientists from different areas are visually represented in Argentinian television in order to evaluate how this media influences this social construction. The analysis focuses on the scientist characters presented like visual aspect, age, clothing, gender and ethnicity; time on screen, knowledge, quality of speech, job title and physical context in which they are presented are also considered. This analysis is based on 10 programs selected from a corpus of programs considered to be of scientific dissemination - criteria established ad hoc- for years 2011 and 2013 (n = 174 / n = 142) in 15 channels . These programs were categorized by their format (documentary, reality, magazine, etc.) and the scientific-technological areas they present (Biological Science, Medicine, Environment, etc.). We also focus, in particular , on the revision of established format-area relations , understanding formats not as communicative packaging loaded content (areas), but as flexible and dynamic significant structures constructed and projected areas of science and technology, . In this way we wonder how mutually conditioned format and content are. This study allow us to think about science and technology in Argentinian television and what social imaginaries this media reinforce in a critical moment for the audiovisual production in our country. The implementation of a new national law on audiovisual communications is opening the possibility to generate new programs, at the same time the 13th International Public Communication of Science and Technology Conference 5-8 May 2014, Salvador, Brazil field of communication and dissemination of science and technology is in the focus of current public policies.

Golombek Abstract What exactly is “scientific culture”? How does it relate to science communication, non-formal education or artistic interactions with the scientific world? That was the topic of the 14th International Summer School of Mind, Brain and Education (ISMBE), held 1–4 October 2019 at the Ettore Majorana Centre for Scientific Culture in Erice (Sicily), Italy. The ISMBE has a long history of bringing together researchers from diverse fields to catalyze research relating to cognitive science and neuroscience through to education, and the directors of the School, Drs. Kurt Fischer, Antonio Battro and Sebastián Lipina considered that the boundary between these fields and scientific culture was subtle enough to demand a conference on the subject and asked us to organize such a meeting. The notion of scientific culture — which sometimes overlaps with the fields of public understanding of science and science literacy - also expands into the development of non-formal venues such as science and technology museums and centers and even into the relationship between the sciences and the arts.
