Welcome to the Swiss Mountaineering School grindelwaldSPORTS.

 Bishorn 4153 m

 The programme:

Day 1: Beautiful hike to Cabane de Tracuit 3256m The starting point for our ascent guides us over the northwestern flank of the Cabane de Tracuit. This is a 4-hour ascent from the Val d'Anniviers. We meet in and tackle the 1600 vertical meters difference to get to the hut. The footpath leads us via Roc de la Vache, Combautanna to the Col de Tracuit, from where the hut is in close reach. In the afternoon we ‘chill’ and towards the end of the day we are packing our backpacks for the ascent of tomorrow.

Day 2: ‘Grand view’ over the north ridge of the We leave the hut in the dark. Leisurely we hike over the first flat glacier. Gradually the firn flank increases more and more. Shortly before the summit we climb a short steep section and reach our destination: The Bishorn is a ‘two pointed’ four-thousand summit in the Alps. The high- er west summit reaches an altitude of 4'153 m above sea level and overcomes the eastern sum- mit (Pointe Burnaby, 4'135 m above sea level) only insignificantly. From the summit it gives an impressive view onto the mighty Weisshorn north ridge, the extension which actually represents the Bishorn.

Footwear: In the equipment list in the appendix, you see what kind of footwear you need for this tour. If you have bought new boots, we suggest you try them out on an easy hike before undertaking a tour.

Lunch: A little lunch per day should be enough – some bars, a sandwich, dried fruit, nuts, … We recommend to drink a lot the evening before and in the morning. It helps to handle the altitude.
