Yr hyn gewch chi yn y gyfrol hon yn bennaf yw cerddi buddugol Cystadleuaeth y Stôl Farddoniaeth a’r Stôl Ryddiaith, ond hefyd y gweithiau a ddaeth yn ail ac yn drydydd. Terwyn Tomos o Landudoch a enillodd y Stôl Farddoniaeth, a Llŷr Gwyn Lewis y Stôl Rhyddiaith. Mae sylwadau’r beirniaid yma hefyd, ond yn ogystal mae cerdd yr un gan dri mab Parc Nest, ynghyd â cherddi newydd ar gyfer yr Ŵyl AmGen gan nifer o Brifeirdd Coronog a Chadeiriol y Genedlaethol dros y blynyddoedd. Gwledd yn wir! Os nad ydych chi wedi darllen y gyfrol, ewch ar unwaith i brynu copi - byddwch wrth eich boddl Mae’n flasus iawn. THE INTERACTION BETWEEN LANDSCAPE and MYTH in the NOVELS of JOHN COWPER POWYS by GWYNETH F. MILES MA Bryn Mawr College, 196?
c . \ THE INTERACTION BETWEEN LANDSCAPE AND MYTH IN THE NOVELS OF JOHN COWPER POWYS by GWYNETH F. MILES M.A. Bryn Mawr College, 196? A THESIS SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFILMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY in the Department of English We accept this thesis as conforming to the required standard THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA September, 1973 In presenting this thesis in partial fulfilment of the requirements for an advanced degree at the University of British Columbia, I agree that the Library shall make it freely available for reference and study. I further agree that permission for extensive copying of this thesis for scholarly purposes may be granted by the Head of my Department or by his representatives. It is understood that copying or publication of this thesis for financial gain shall not be allowed without my written permission. Department The University of British Columbia Vancouver 8, Canada i Abstract Powys' novels are deeply rooted in a sense of place; much of their conflict develops through the effect of a particular locality upon the characters who live there or come there. This thesis demonstrates how Powys' sense of place is com• pounded of both a feeling for the physical landscape, and an awareness of the historical and mythical traditions which form its human past. Powys finds correspondences between the scenery and legends of a locality and the psychological states of his personae, and thus uses landscape and myth for symbolic purposes. The interaction of myth and landscape largely creates the characteristic atmosphere of the five novels studied here. -

ITV , Item 2. PDF 378 KB
National Assembly for Wales Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee Briefing note 10 October 2019 ITV is a cornerstone of popular culture in homes across Wales. It is a significant employer with some four hundred staff operating from ten locations right across Wales, making around eight hundred hours of television a year. It retains substantial viewership for television content made in Wales for Wales while also growing audiences of scale for public service news and current affairs content online and across social media. It brings the nation together around important events - as we are currently seeing with the Rugby World Cup - broadcast free-to-air across ITV. As a UK-based commercial business ITV pays tax on its profits here and its employees spend their wages here. It grows brands in Wales, offering trusted and cost effective advertising platforms to government, public bodies and commercial enterprises. It works in partnership with the National Assembly, the Welsh Government and a wide range of commercial and third sector organisations to celebrate the best of Welsh life while providing plurality of coverage in both English and Welsh across news, current affairs, factual and children’s programming. It is a strong supporter of apprenticeship programmes and many other initiatives which are designed to support and encourage diversity and inclusivity. 1 KEY HIGHLIGHTS ● ITV broadcast three of the top five most popular tv programmes in Wales in 2018 (I’m a Celebrity, World Cup: Croatia v England, Six Nations England v Wales). A fourth of the top five (Bodyguard) was made by an ITV company for the BBC. -
Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr
Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr Annual Report of the Governing Body 2016-17 Plasmawr’s aim is to strive for excellence: through maintaining an innovative community based on respect, whose language and culture is Welsh, is disciplined in behaviour and has a broad outlook on life. A community which develops the skills of its learners and which values all of its members equally. 1 Dr Catrin Redknap, Chair of the Governing Body Dear Parent/Guardian I’m writing to you as Chair of Ysgol Plasmawr’s Governors, at the end of another successful year for the school. I’m pleased to report that the GCSE and A Level results for 2017 were among the best in Plasmawr’s history. The performance of the school’s A Level pupils was one of the best in Cardiff, and the achievements of Year 11 pupils compares favourably with the last two years. The rest of the report contains details of many successes and achievements which testify to the fact that there’s more to a successful school than academic performance alone. I would like to thank every member of the school staff for offering a wealth of extra-curricular activities and visits which enrich the pupils’ experiences, broaden their horizons, and develop further life-skills within a Welsh context. Leading a school at this time of accountability and financial cutbacks is quite a challenge, and the changes to the academic curriculum require strong and strategic leadership. I’m confident that the Headteacher and his Leadership Team will continue to overcome these challenges with enthusiasm and an attention to detail. -
