We employ Community Car etaker sw ho brin gar eassuring an d helpful pr esence in impr oving the general envir onmen to fa numbe r of ou rn eighbourhoods. They help maintain the sha re d spaces in an da ro und flat sa nd othero pen spaces owned by us by removin g flytipping ,c utting back overgr owth, removin gg ra ff it ia nd general cleaning.

If you come acr os sg ra ff iti eithe ro n you rp ro perty or elsewher ei n you rn eighbourhood then you should contact ou rC ustomer Service Centre. We will be able to advise you if we can take action to remove it or if no tw ho may be able to assist.

4 Fly Tippin g

Fl yt ipping is the illegal dumping of rubbish or bulky items on lan d thati sn ot license dt or eceive it .I no ther wor ds land tha ti sn ot designated for the disposa lo fwaste .

Make sure thata nyon ed oing clearance wor kf or you ha sa pr oper licence. Ask to se ei t, an di f you ar e suspicious contact ou r Customer Service Centre. Yo um ust take all reasonable steps to ensure that waste is only takenf ro m you rh ome by operator sw ho ar ea uthorise dt od os o. If this waste is fl yt ipped then you could be pr osecuted.

If rubbish is fl yt ippe do no ur land the nw e will investigat e an dw herever possibl ep ro secute those re sponsible.

How do Ir eport an inciden to f fly tipping?

Contact ou rC ustomer Service Centr e wit ha sm uc ho f the followin g information as possible:

5 What services are available from BCBC?

BCBC provide a whole range of public services throughout the county borough and in this section we have summarised some of those most commonly used.

Refuse Collection

BCBC advise you not to put out your rubbish bags too early for collection. To find out when your collection day is please contact BCBC or ask a neighbour. Please note that collection days often change in weeks containing bank holidays.

Recycling

Aspartofitsweeklyrefusecollection,BCBCsrecyclingservice collects,arangeofitemsincludingfoodwaste,plasticbottles, aerosols,foil,foodtinsanddrinkcans,paper,glassbottles,jarsand cardboard.Forthese,youshouldhavetwoblackboxes,afood waste container and a blue reusable sack. Simply put the recycling in the correct container each week. If you are missing any of these containers please contact BCBC. In some areas that are not suitableforkerbsidecollection,banksofrecyclingbinsareprovided in nearby communal areas.

Forthosewholiveinblocksofflats,youmustnotput recycling boxes or bags in communal areas as it breaches fire safety regulations.

6 Bulky Wa st e

It is your responsibility to dispose of bulky items in an appropriate manner. BCBC will collect bulky waste for a small charge.
