Nodyn | Note The Dunraven estate comprised the Glamorgan estates of the Edwin family of Llanmihangel Betws Iarll, Glamorgan, and the Glamorgan and Gloucestershire estate of the Wyndham families of Dunraven, Glamorgan, and of Clearwell, Gloucestershire. The Dunraven and Clearwell estates were united when Jane, daughter and eventual heiress of John Wyndham of Dunraven, married her cousin Thomas Wyndham of Clearwell. When Jane died, Thomas married secondly Anne, daughter of Samuel Edwin of Llanmihangel. Thomas Wyndham died in 1751 and Anne his second wife in 1758. Their son and heir Charles Wyndham, MP for Glamorgam, 1780-1789, inherited both estates. The Llanmihangel estate had been purchased in 1685 from Sir Robert Thomas by Humphrey Edwin, alderman of London, and had passed successively to his son Samuel Edwin and to Samuel's son, Charles Edwin. The latter's nephew Charles Wyndham inherited the Llanmihangel estate and assumed the surname Edwin in accordance with his uncle's will. Following his death in 1801 the three estate of

Windham-Quin, later 2nd Earl of Dunraven, of Adare, County Limerick.

Records of the Dunraven estate, principally in Glamorgan, belonging to the Wyndham and Wyndham- Quin families of Dunraven Castle, Glamorgan, earls of Dunraven, and of Clearwell, Gloucestershire, and papers of the associated families of Edwin and Thomas of Llanfihangel-juxta-Cowbridge, including deeds, [early 13 cent.]-1939, mainly for lands in Glamorgan; rentals, surveys and accounts, 1348-1483, 1688-1951, mainly relating to properties in Glamorgan; manorial records, 1548-1936, relating chiefly to numerous manors in Glamorgan, legal papers, 1685-1895; and correspondence, 1791-1918.

(dyddiad creu) | (date of creation) Natur a chynnwys | Scope and content: Volume of rent rolls and receipts of rents, including for properties in p's Coychurch and Coety, and assumed to relate to part of the Dunraven estate. On the first page are memoranda of heriots, arrears and agreements, 1673-1674. The first rent roll is dated Sept. 1671, and the receipts of this Michaelmas rent are dated Jan. 1671[/2]-Aug. 1673. The same pattern of rent roll and receipts is maintained for

Subsequently the rent roll is omitted, with seperate half-yearly receipts only, from the [Michaelmas 1673] rent, received Dec. 1673-Oct. 1675, to the March 1678 rent, received Oct. 1678-April 1679. From the back of the volume are further memoranda, 1672-1673, and an account of payments to "my self" and others, 1671-1679[/80]. The volume is untitled and unsigned, and the accounts are unaudited. The only place names in the first rental are Watertown Mill, Morfa Farm and Coychurch. Other place names include a parcel of land called Cae Garrw in p's Coety and Coychurch, a common called keven heergoed, and a parcel of land called ka morfa shark.
