Dispersal of 547 Head on behalf of H & M Moore Auctioneer: Russell Steer 07788318701

The entire flock dispersal of MV accredited sheep on behalf of Howard and his late wife Michelle was met by a great crowd of local and travelled buyers that ensured all classes of sheep that were sold in their working clothes, were keenly sought after. Older pedigree Texel ewes were generally 180 to 280gns and peaked at 700gns for a stand out ewe purchased by EW Quick & Son of Crediton whilst others followed at 380gns twice and 320gns. The shearling Texel’s peaked at 800gns with others at 700gns, 600gns & 500gns as well as three at 400gns with the remainder usually in the 300’s. Best of the ewe lambs to 220gns with the bulk running between 140 and 180gns. The old stock ram Kimbolton Alchemy sold at 520gns whilst the slightly younger homebred service sire Millennium Bandit realised 400gns. The Texel shearling rams were maybe the only sticky patch with a few selling from 180 to 250gns looking value whilst the sparkier better sorts sold to a top of 380gns with others 350gns (x2), 320gns (x2) & 300gns (x2). Ram Lambs with plenty of promise to 420gns twice, the FM Aberfield Ram sold well at 460gns as did the two aged Lleyn’s at 380 & 350gns as the shearlings hit 420, 400, 350 & 300gns.

A fantastic consignment of commercial sheep followed with pens of purebred Lleyn shearlings selling to £185 (x2), £182 & £165 for the ones that had had lambs and £170 & £160 for the ran dry shearlings. 4T aged Lleyn ewes to £168, £165 (x3), £162 (x2) & £158 as the 6T aged ewes peaked at £152, £142, £138 & £135 and 2016 born FM ewes to £130 (x3), £127, £126 (x2) & £124. A smart pen of three quarter bred Aberfield shearlings sold at £170 as the first cross shearlings that hadn’t lambed realised £188 & £175 and £175 also for the best two pens of crossbred shearlings that had reared lambs. Some smart ewe lambs were a great finish to the sale with purebred Lleyns at £118 & £105, Texel x Lleyn ewe lambs to £120, ¾ bred Aberfields to £131 and first crosses at £121 & £120.
