BIBLICX1RAPHY OF DISCCX1RAPHIES ANNUAL CUMULATION - 1975 Edited by Michael Gray and Gerald Gibson INTRODUCTION For some time now virtually every user of discographies, regardless of subject, has agreed upon the need for a comprehensive bibliography of discographies. It was generally conceded, however, that the difficulty of attempting such a diversified bibliographic project was so great that it would be impossible for one or two people to attempt. After due consideration and some preliminary work (a number of you are probably aware of inquiries made by the editors of this bibliography in the periodical literature covering the field of sound recordings), we proceeded to contact several persons with strong discographic reputations in their respective subject fields to ask if they would be interested in working with us to produce a compre­ hensive bibliography of discographies to be pub­ lished annually in the ARSC Journal. In each instance we met with overwhelming enthusiasm and, as the following bibliography will attest, we have received marvelous co-operation. The contributors and their subject areas are: Country and Hillbilly-Norm Cohen, Playa del Ray, California; Blues-Gospel-David Evans, Anaheim, California; Jazz---Daniel Allen, Toronto, Canada, and Classical-Michael Gray and Gerald Gibson, Washington, D.C. A recent addition to the "stable" in the area of Rock is steve Smolian, Catskill, New York. As you can see, the areas of Folk, Ethnic and Popular Soul have not been covered in this bibliography; it is hoped that this oversight will be rectified in the near future. With this list of contributors we have attempted what we hope is a comprehensive search of the various fields of publication which would 19 include discographies. The intention is to include a citation for any discography regardless of length, completeness or accuracy. It would have been desir­ able to have included editorial comment on the merit of each discography cited, but due to the size of the project this was completely out of the question. No discography has been intentionally excluded. The intent, on the contrary, is to have full coverage. Therefore, if you are aware of any discography that was published during the period in question, by all means please send its citation to the editors who will gladly receive notification of it for inclu­ sion in a future bibliography of discographies. It is the intent of the editors that this bibliog­ raphy should appear annually in the ARSC Journal and that it will cover discographies published in the previous calendar year. As in the 1974 Bibliography~ a single A-through­ z, letter-by-letter alphabet of subjects is used to organize the material. The subjects chosen are those as used in the Library of Congress with the choice of subject entry being the most specific possible for that particular item. It seems logical to the editors to choose the Library of Congress form of the subject entry since it is the most complete listing of subjects known to the editors; it has one of the widest circulations of such lists; and it is the form of subject entry with which the two editors most actively work. If we are aware of variant spellings and forms of entry, then suitable cross-references have been furnished. When setting up the machinery to compile this bibliography it was assumed that all discographies consulted would contain certain elements--the composer/author and title of the work recorded, and in the case of a commercial recording, the name of the issuing company and its true issue number. We subsequently discovered a few discographies which do not include all of this primary data but the vast majority (in excess of 99 percent) do.     INVENTORY TO ARCHIVAL BOXES IN THE MOTION PICTURE, BROADCASTING, AND RECORDED SOUND DIVISION OF THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS Compiled by MBRS Staff (Last Update December 2017) Introduction The following is an inventory of film and television related paper and manuscript materials held by the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress. Our collection of paper materials includes continuities, scripts, tie-in-books, scrapbooks, press releases, newsreel summaries, publicity notebooks, press books, lobby cards, theater programs, production notes, and much more. These items have been acquired through copyright deposit, purchased, or gifted to the division. How to Use this Inventory The inventory is organized by box number with each letter representing a specific box type. The majority of the boxes listed include content information.     Time Capsule Racing Cars. The Albums 1976-1978 (4CD, Cherry Red) Before there was punk there was pub rock. Truth be told, the two blurred into one another in the Seventies; both were loud, awkward back-to-basics rock that rejected the excesses of progrock and the notion of musical skill having to come first. (I actually liked it more when postpunk arrived and allowed keyboards back onstage and rock started being desconstructed again, but that's another story...) Many pub rock bands such as Clover included American country in their musical mix; others like the unjustly neglected Moon got downright funky; and there was also a version of jazz-rock by the likes of Jim Mullen and his friends, that avoided the excesses of what we think of as jazz rock. These were in contrast to the clipped, rough'n'ready performances of bands like Ducks Deluxe and Dr Feelgood, who if they had chosen to wear plastic sacks and pins in their noses could easily have become punks. They were also in contrast to Racing Cars, a hard working band from Wales, who drew on the swamp music of Little Feat and others in the American South for their inspiration, and featured some beautiful slide and lead guitar work within their repertoire. They also had a secret weapon: Morty on lead vocals, a small, soulful whirlwind of a man, who could captivate audiences of any size with his angelic bluesy voice. (Morty also had a secret weapon: a brother who was the band's roadie. On a good night the brother would join the band onstage, where he would juggle and balance things on his nose to help round off the evening in celebratory style.) Racing Cars were mainstays of the London pub rock scene.

A multi-storey car park is next to the venue on Chapel Street. This is open 24 hours. The Flowerpot is famed for its vast choice of real ales and is now recognised as one of the best live music venues in the country. The capacity is 250 if standing and 150 if the show is all seated. If you are travelling a long way, please check that tickets are still available for the show. If you are travelling by bus or train, the main stations are approximately 20 minutes walk from the venue - just head for the Derby Cathedral and the Flowerpot is 100 yards further on up the road.
