Tbe Boarding Houses have not been neglected, however: showers are being built on to Glyndowr, while at Waste Court, parts of the house have been redecorated. Meanwhile, the new Dining Hall is progressing weil: although the roof is not yet on, the builders have started some of the indoar plastering, tTUsting in the good weather. It should be finished and ready for use by Christmas. Many other minor repairs and improvements have been made, too many to mention, far which we must thank the Bursar's vigilant eye. As word about The Old Burfordians spreads our numbers are increasing, so welcome to all those who’ve joined us recently, both locally and from further afield. We have as ever been very busy here at Burford. The Old Burfordians held their second reunion on Saturday 22 September and what a lovely afternoon it was despite the inclement weather. Ex students and staff from a number of decades attended and a good catch up was had by all over a delicious afternoon tea with wonderful cakes donated by Alumni members. An opportunity to have a wander around the school site and discover how different departments have changed over the years, was welcomed by those who were happy to brave the weather. There was much fun and laughter as guests searched for themselves or friends in the fantastic photo display taken from our huge archive, running from the 1930s up to the present day. They enthused about reading, recommended reads to the students and talked about their own titles. We look forward to welcoming them back into school in person when it is safe to do so. Author Sarah Oliver, also recorded some talks for our Year 7s and 8s about the process of publishing and writing biographies, which generated a lot of interest and discussion. The students were asked to research someone who interested them and write mini biographies based on the information they had discovered. Jo Cotterill joined us, courtesy of Teams, on Thursday 25 March, which was our virtual World Book Day. She was her usual bubbly and inspirational self and we managed to get some of her books to sell.
