Comcast Announces 2015 Comcast Cares Day Projects in Shreveport

Comcast Calls On and Opens Registration to Volunteers, Non-Profits and Community Partners

SHREVEPORT – April 1, 2015 – On Saturday April 25, more than 150 local Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families and friends are partnering with the City of Shreveport and Shereveport Green to ―Keep Shreveport Beautiful‖ as part of the 14th annual Comcast Cares Day.

Comcast Cares Day, which takes place each April during National Volunteer Month, is Comcast NBCUniversal‘s companywide celebration of their year-round commitment to service and the nation‘s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort in the country.

Comcast volunteers, elected officials and community partners invite Shreveport residents to join them at Comcast‘s marquee project on Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. as they beautify the riverfront area, Commerce Street, Riverview Hall and Barnwell. Mayor Ollie Tyler, members of the City Council, Shreveport City employees and Shreveport Green will partner with Comcast for this initiative. The Comcast Cares Day project ties in well with the new litter abatement and beautification initiative, ―Don‘t be Trashy, Keep it Classy, Shreveport is Home‖ recently launched by Mayor Tyler.

Comcast Cares Day volunteer activities will include patrolling the downtown area for litter, sprucing up flower beds, power-washing the Police and Fire monument, and general landscaping around the Booker T. This year, the Company expects more than 95,000 Comcast and NBCUniversal volunteers to participate in more than 700 projects across the country and around the globe. To date, volunteers have contributed more than 3.7 million service hours to improve nearly 6,000 projects in the U.S. and around the world since Comcast Cares Day started in 2001.

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of everyone who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day.
