Fortunately, Bruce was able to work alongside Mary for the past three months, learning at least some of Mary’s responsibilities. I am grateful that Bruce has agreed to continue on in a part time capacity in the role of business manager. In the meantime, I ask that you bear with us as we adjust to Mary’s absence. We are sure to discover just how much Mary was doing, things that we weren’t even aware of, when in the days to come we notice the things that are not being done now, things that she took care of without saying a word.

St. Michael the Archangel Parish & the Helman Concert Series Lessons and Carols Tuesday, December 13th at 7:00 PM Lessons and Carols is a beautiful service with scripture readings, special choir performances and carol sing-a-longs. This prayer and praise service prepares our hearts for the coming of Christ. Lessons and Carols will be led by our own music ministry groups active at St. Michael’s Parish, as well as our parish lectors. The service is appropriate for the whole family, and will be less than an hour long. We invite you to sing your way into the holiday spirit!

(VOCI)(VOCI) We will again be inviting any person(s) or families to join the choir for the 6:00 pm Christmas and 11:00 am Christmas Day Masses. Any Holiday Concert age, any skill level is encouraged to sing with the choir for Christmas Day VOCI has been performing opera, operettas, musicals, major works, madrigals and Masses. Any age, any skill level is musical reviews for the public of greater Canton for 77 seasons. VOCI, meaning many voices in Italian, and pronounced VO-CHEE, is a 90 voice choir united by one passion..... encouraged to sing with the choir for singing. The mission of Voices of Canton is to celebrate choral art through performance, Christmas. We all love Christmas using the power of “many voices” to educate, inspire and unite. By Claire Gatti, Principal It was with great pleasure that the faculty, staff, and I welcomed over 400 students back to school for the 2016-17 school year. Although the weather was very hot at the beginning of the school year, the teachers and stu- dents worked through the heat and lots of learning and excitement took place. Our teachers are the best around and I am so very proud of them. Although I encourage the teachers to take lots of time for rest and relaxation over the summer, they use the summer months for professional development, to enhance their curriculum and to keep up with educational trends. When it was time for school to begin in August, it was wonderful to the hear the excite- ment in the voices of teachers about how they will implement in their classrooms what they experienced in their workshops and classes. By Mary Joseph, Newsletter Committee Recently the St. Michael community was saddened by the death of parish administrator Mary Germann. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her and worked with her but she also blessed us with a wonderful volunteer — her mother, Rose Lioi.

Rose, a 75-year member of St. Paul, Canton, came to St. Michael in 2004 to be with her daughters Mary and . Mary had just started working at St. Michael’s as Business Manager, and Sarah, who is currently a judge for the United States District Court of Ohio, was a parishioner. Rose was blessed with a large family including four daughters, three sons, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. New for us this year is the inclusion of the eighth grade class from both St. Michael School and our Parish School of Religion into our Life Teen program. Many surrounding area parishes have included eighth graders in their programming and we decided as a staff to follow suit. The experiment has proved fruitful; we have a nice mixture of youth from both SMS and PSR. The basis of our decision was to help provide a smoother transition to high school youth ministry.
