SEMILLON Rockford Local Growers 2003 Barossa Valley, Aus. £42 Rich & full bodied with a lovely, light golden colour & an inviting lemon & apricot nose with just a hint of butteriness. It is soft, rich & exciting on the palate with excellent acid structure. Nice balance, only 11.5% alcohol and you don't notice any of it.

VIOGNIER The Lane 2007 Adelaide Hills, Aus. £49 Plenty of rich, fleshy fruit with a great citric acidity to cut through on the mid palate. The finish shows subtle oaky spice. This wine was a placebo in a recent Condrieu tasting & it was placed first. It is absolutely delicious.

POMEROL Bourgneuf Vayron 2003 Pomerol, Bordeaux £69 Rich, packed with ripe rich fruit flavors’ and very soft from this forward drinking hot vintage. Characterisitcally this has a very deep purple colour, a touch of chocolate and truffles on the nose and sensuously textured rich fruitiness with rounded, still present tannins.

CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE Domaines Brunier 2007/8 Rhone £59 A fantastic example and a great food wine. 2005 was a fantastic vintage in the Rhône producing rich, deeply coloured wines bursting with spicy, damson/plum fruitiness.

HERMITAGE LA CHAPELLE 1996 Rhone £85 The most famous of Paul Jaboulet Aine’s wines. 100% Syrah from 40 year old vines; full bodied & extremely complex with very fine tannins. Rich wild berry flavours and truffled notes- Fabulous!

Italy & Austria ZWEIGELT Little J 2007 Kamptal,Austria £30 This Zweigelt is youthful, clear and concise, with typical aromas of sweet and sour cherries and refined fruit flavors. A lively red wine full of suspense, silky, soft and charming. Best serve slightly chilled.

VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE Zenato 2008 Veneto, Italy £35 Dry and robust with an excellent velvety texture. Wild berries, currant, black cherry and spice with just a hint of Chocolate on the finish.

BAROLO Azienda Agricola Patrizi 2007 Piedmont, Italy £52 Heady with a smoky nose and aromas of dried fruits, leather and earthy woodiness; rich and rustic, velvety and rounded. Finishing with a characteristic dry grip and bite.

IL PINO DI BISERNO Tenuta di Biserno 2007 Tuscany, Italy £92 Violets, ripe cherries, red and black fruit confit complemented by coffee notes & a delicate hint of citrus, with a refreshing spiced character, all set within an opulent, silky and rather decadent texture. PRADO REY ROBLE Bodegas Ventosilla 2009 Ribera Del Duero £34 A succulent and velvety tempranillo crammed full of blackberry fruitiness. Plums and spice burst from the glass with hints of liquorice and a lovely burst of acidity on the finish.

PURPLE ANGEL Montes Winery 2006 Colchagua, Chile £65 They called this Carmenère purple for a reason - it's a gorgeous chocolatey purple colour. With red fruits evocations of blackcurrant, chocolate and cigar box, in balance with well-integrated oak (French Alliers fine grained oak). Great complexity,full bodied and balanced with a lasting persistence and a remarkable finish. Gorgeous!

New Zealand & Australia SHIRAZ VIOGNIER The Lane 2009 Adelaide Hills, Aus £39 Tiny winery, cool climate (for Oz). Nicely crafted Cote Rotie copy, lifted by the Viognier, which moderates the Shiraz sappyness. Ripe, warm, velvety textured with damson, cherry and a hint of vanilla.

SHIRAZ Eagle Vale 2005 Margaret River, Aus £42 Small producer of handcrafted wines. Intense blackberries and truffle. Mid weight and very elegant for Australian Shiraz.
