NEPTUN WERFT has a very long tradition as well. More than 150 years ago the shipyard was founded on the Baltic coast. The history and tradition of MEYER TURKU even dates back to the year 1737.

Die NEPTUN WERFT in Warnemünde blickt ebenfalls auf eine lange Tradition zurück. Mit ihrer mehr als 150-jährigen Geschichte gehört sie zu den ältesten Werften der deutschen Ostseeküste. MEYER TURKU – 1910 Vergleichbares gilt auch für die Werft im finnischen Turku, deren Wurzeln sogar bis ins Jahr 1737 zurückreichen.
Die Unternehmensgruppe befindet sich im Besitz der Familie Meyer. Tradition und Kontinuität wird im modernen Familienunternehmen großgeschrieben.

In southwestern Finland 1,500 employees are working on cruise ships and ferries at MEYER TURKU shipyard. And on the Baltic coast in Rostock-Warnemünde at NEPTUN WERFT shipyard, some 500 employees are specialized in building river cruise ships, ferries and engine room modules for Papenburg and Turku. In 2007 MEYER WERFT had succeeded in welcoming the American cruise ship company Disney Cruise Line as a new customer. Contracts were signed for two 130,000 gt new builds. These ships were delivered to the cruise line in 2010 and 2012. The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy offer cruise experiences for the whole family where the special flair of a Disney resort is combined with the latest media and entertainment technology on board a ship.

Im Jahr 2007 war es der MEYER WERFT gelungen, die amerikanische Kreuzfahrtreederei Disney Cruise Line als neuen Kunden begrüßen zu dürfen. Es wurden die Verträge für zwei Neubauten mit einer Größe von 130.000 BRZ unterzeichnet. Abgeliefert wurden diese Schiffe an die Reederei in den Jahren 2010 und 2012. Disney Cruise Line konzentriert sich in der Kreuzfahrtbranche auf ein speziell auf Familien zugeschnittenes Marktsegment. Alongside features such as the surfing simulator "flow rider" and cantilevered whirlpools that have never before been seen on a cruise ship, Freedom of the Seas was outfitted with the world’s largest fitness centre at sea and the first full- size boxing ring. Rock-climbing, ice-skating and the Royal Promenade introduced by the previous vessel series can be found onboard, too. The Freedom class is a lengthened version of the Voyager of the Seas class of which five ships were delivered from 1999 to 2003. Roughly 15 percent larger than Voyager, Freedom of the Seas is 38.6 metres wide and 339 metres long.

oyager of the Seas is the first in a series of fiveV " oyager- V class" cruise ships for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. The delivery of Voyager of the Seas took place in 1999 at Turku shipyard. The Voyager-class cruise ships were at the time among the biggest cruise ships in the world. The cruise ship features a four deck high promenade, the Royal Promenade. The Royal Promenade also features inside staterooms with a view. The big theatre seats 1,320 guests and there are numerous restaurants onboard. The main restaurant is three decks high, and seats a total of 1,900 in five distinct areas. In addition, there is an ice skating rink and a rock climbing wall on board.

A modified sistership for delivery in 2018 has been ordered.The propulsion system consists of four Voith- Schneider propellers which enable the ferry to operate at a speed of 12 knots. The construction, featuring two identical ship bows and the propellers fitted on either end, allow the ferry to operate ahead and astern, avoiding time-consuming turnarounds in port.

A bigger sister ship Coral Energice will follow in 2017 which is In 2013, MEYER WERFT delivered the first LNG Tanker under construction in Warnemünde.
