NEPTUN WERFT has a very long tradition as well. More than 150 years ago the shipyard was founded on the Baltic coast. The history and tradition of MEYER TURKU even dates back to the year 1737. The group of shipyards is owned and managed by a family who believe in tradition and continuity, as well as in continuously re- inventing a modern family business. The pioneering spirit was always the foundation to survive in such an old and competitive industry as shipbuilding for our group of companies. Die 1795 gegründete MEYER WERFT begann 1872 mit dem Bau von Eisenschiffen mit Dampfmaschinen. Die NEPTUN WERFT in Warnemünde blickt ebenfalls auf eine lange Tradition zurück. Mit ihrer mehr als 150-jährigen Geschichte gehört sie zu den ältesten Werften der deutschen Ostseeküste. MEYER TURKU – 1910 Vergleichbares gilt auch für die Werft im finnischen Turku, deren Wurzeln sogar bis ins Jahr 1737 zurückreichen. Die Unternehmensgruppe befindet sich im Besitz der Familie Meyer. Tradition und Kontinuität wird im modernen Familienunternehmen großgeschrieben. In southwestern Finland 1,500 employees are working on cruise ships and ferries at MEYER TURKU shipyard. And on the Baltic coast in Rostock-Warnemünde at NEPTUN WERFT shipyard, some 500 employees are specialized in building river cruise ships, ferries and engine room modules for Papenburg and Turku. Just like our other new- builds, the features of this ship include outstanding energy-effi ciency and a comprehen- sive system of exhaust gas treatment. To date we are the only cruise company in the world to have consciously decided to not simply operate these exhaust gas treatment systems inside the special emission control areas according to the regulations. As we believe environmental protection is not subject to geographical borders, we deploy the systems on a continuous basis, worldwide and around the clock.
