Hebrews 11:41

For the past ten weeks, the ladies study has been doing a Beth Moore study entitled “Believing God”. She is not talking about believing in God, but believing God. The first is much easier than the second. Even Satan himself believes in God. But do we believe God, believe Him when He tells us right from wrong, believe Him when He tells us He will take care of a problem, believe Him when He says that we have personal access to the power of God, believe Him when He says in Matthew 17:20 .... “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Belief in God can make us uncomfortable. We don’t want to be found not believing Him. We tend to look at the words of God as lined up on a grocery shelf and we pull down those things that are easy for us to accept, leaving the harder things behind. We tell ourselves that it isn’t because we don’t believe them, it is just that we know we believe in the things we have selected.

While we are playing at semantics, God sees it as not believing Him. We are called to have faith, believe God. Trust that what He says....everything He says....is true. Are we willing to take that tremendous leap of pure faith and believe Him.

It may sometimes be hard for us to believe everything God’s word tells us because we are a “see it, touch it” people. We want to see things with our own eyes, touch them with our own hands. Unless we have seen and touched, we doubt. Unless we can prove it, maybe it isn’t so. Yet Hebrews 11 begins “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

In Hebrews 11, God gives us a star line-up. It is a listing of those who have believed God. They took a leap of pure faith. Each stepped outside of what they could see or touch and simply believed God. By faith, Abel.....by faith, .....by faith, and , , , , , the Israelites, , , , , , , , the Prophets...... legendary testimonies of faith. It isn’t an all inclusive list. It is a sampling, not of perfect people, but of people who took a step of faith. God wants to write a testimony for you, too.

In Beth Moore’s study she made a suggestion that affected me profoundly, and I want to share it. She asked us to turn our to Hebrews 11:41. Don’t find it? That’s because God is still writing it. It says, “By faith, Roxie, .....” What will God write there? Am I stepping out in faith? Am I believing God? What will God write in your testimony?
