Ericsson delivering base station subsystem to new Croatian GSM operator, VIP-Net has been selected by new Croatian operator VIP-Net to deliver the Base Station Subsystem (BSS) for its new nationwide GSM network.

Ericsson will serve as sole supplier for the base station subsystem, including macro and micro base station solutions from its highly flexible RBS 2000 series, software, implementation and support services.

“We are extremely pleased that VIP-Net, as a new operator demanding top quality and fast roll-out, has chosen Ericsson to supply the radio portion of their GSM network,” said Ake Enell, President of Ericsson D.D. in . “Excellent radio performance is key for the build out of an efficient, high quality network.”

The new system, Croatia’s second GSM network, is scheduled to begin commercial operation in early July. Initial areas of coverage will include the major cities, tourist centers and main transport routes, expanding to include 90 percent of the population during the year 2000.
