The 21 wins was a school record as a Division I program. The Gaels finished a highest-ever second place in the MAAC, while also setting new highs in MAAC and overall home wins. The team made its first-ever postseason appearance, advancing to the second round of the WNIT. Iona also had 2007-08 MAAC STANDINGS three All-MAAC selections (Martina Weber, Tiara Headen, Toni Horvath) for only the MAAC Overall second time ever. November 2, 2007 November 9, 2007 Hynes Athletics Center - New Rochelle, NY Stony Brook University Arena - Stony Brook, NY Thazina Cook's 17 points led Iona to a 93-58 victory over Dowling on Seniors Lauren DeFalco and Tiara Headen each put up ten points in the Iona College Friday night. Co-captain Lauren Huber added 14 for the Gaels, who open their regular women's basketball team's (0-1) 66-57 loss to Stony Brook in the season opener. Aly season on Nov. 9 at Stony Brook. Iona held onto the advantage until there were seven seconds remaining in the period when Jodie Plikus scored from long range, bringing the game to halftime at 34- 33 in favor of the Seawolves.

The Gaels were never able to regain control as the Seawolves outscored them 21-10 in the initial five minutes of the second segment. Kirsten Jeter connected for five straight points to bring Stony Brook to its largest lead of the night, a 16-point spread at 60-44 with 5:32 on the clock. Iona managed to cut the deficit to nine by the final buzzer.

Despite the loss, Iona had a better shooting percentage in the first half (40.6%-37.9%) and in the game (36.1%-35.9%). The Gaels were outrebounded 53-46 and put Stony

November 17, 2007 Mullaney Gymnasium - Providence, RI The Iona College women's basketball team saw a seven point halftime lead erased as Providence broke out in the second period to take a 73-64 victory. With the loss, the Gaels dropped to 1-3 on the season while the Friars improved to 2-1.

Iona held a 33-26 lead at halftime despite 18 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes of play. The Gaels led in part to Providence's 24.4-percent shooting, as it connected on just 11 of 45 attempts in the first half. Iona shot 11 of 27 in the opening half (40.7- percent). Iona never trailed in the first 20 minutes, but the Friars did manage to tie the score on three different occasions.

In the second half, Providence went on a 15-8 scoring run to tie the game, 41-41, with 14:20 left to play. PC went on to outscore the Maroon & Gold 17-5 over the next 6:10 to secure a 12 point lead (58-46) with 8:10 on the clock. Iona trimmed the lead to four at 58-54 as Cat Lutz went on a rampage, sinking three straight baskets for eight points. The margin would turn out to be as close as the Gaels would come the rest of the way.

Thazina Cook led Iona with 11 points and added nine rebounds. Marissa Flagg came off the bench to score ten points while picking up five steals. Co-captain Tiara Headen was the top rebounder with a game-high ten rebounds. The Gaels held a 51- 40 advantage on the boards.
