EN TORNO A LA FORMACION DEL FUERO GENERAL DE NAVARRA El estudio de la formaci6n del Fuero General de Navarra es una tarea compleja, que requiere no solo el estudio de todas las versio- nes que de 6l se han conservado, sino conocer el proceso mismo de elaboracion del derecho territorial navarro en el siglo xiii. En su conjunto, el Fuero General tal como hoy to cono:emos, recoge, la jurisprudencia, notas o apuntes de algunos justicias de la Curia regia o Cort, mas articulos de fueros y algunas disposi- ciones reales facilmente identificables. Se trata, pues, de compila- ciones privadas de un derecho vigente, aplicado en buena parte desde tiempos muy anteriores al siglo xiii, a que se remontan las versiones que hoy manejamos. ORGANIZACION JUDICIAL Y FUEROS LOCALES ANTERIORES AL FUERO GENERAL La suprema autoridad judicial residia en el rey, quien admi- nistraba justicia asesorado por su Curia o Cort. Ya en el siglo x solia formar parte de la Curia un personaje perito en derecho, v como tal calificado de iudex, que con frecuencia era un eclesias- tico. La Curia asesoraba al rey en los asuntos politicos, militares y administrativos de mayor importancia, pero la variedad y com- plejidad de las cuestiones judiciales sometidas a la jurisdiccion real hizo que en el siglo xi se fuesen integrando en la misma di- versos personajes que gozaban de la confianza del monarca, una de cuyas misiones era fijar el procedimiento judicial a seguir y el lugar en que debian desarrollarse las diversas fases del mismo 94 lose Maria Lacarra -facere legem-, hasta llegar a su perfeccionamiento: iudicium- Estos personajes se denominaron arkaldes'. -

Tasting Navarra With a surface area of 10,421 km2, Navarra has four dis- tinct climates: oceanic, mountain, continental Mediterra- nean, and arid. Part of Navarra is humid and the other part is arid; the uplands in the north and the flatlands in the south. The interaction of these conditions has created dis- tinct ecosystems, on which human activity has modelled settlements, landscapes and different lifestyles that are reflected in the cuisine and in other cultural expressions. Navarra cuisine is based on local and seasonal produce, a cuisine that is closely linked to the land. The repertoires of recipes and traditional flavours are a result of the climate, the terrain, the history and the know-how built up over ge- nerations while now combining contemporary ideas. On the Surnames of Latin American Presidents
BASQUE LEGACY IN THE NEW WORLD: ON THE SURNAMES OF LATIN AMERICAN PRESIDENTS Patxi Salaberri Iker Salaberri UPNA / NUP UPV / EHU Abstract In this article we explain the etymology of the surnames of Basque origin that some presidents of Latin American countries have or have had in the past. These family names were created in the language called Euskara, in the Basque Country (Europe), and then, when some of the people who bore them emigrated to America, they brought their sur- names with them. Most of the family names studied here are either oiconymic or topo- nymic, but it must be kept in mind that the oiconymic ones are, very often, based on house-nicknames, that is, they are anthroponymic in the first place. As far as possible, we have related the surname, when its origin is oiconymic or toponymic, to its source, i.e. to the house or place where it was created. Key words: Basque, etymology, family name, Latin America, oiconym, placename, nickname. Laburpena Artikulu honetan Erdialdeko eta Hego Amerikako herrialdeetako presidente batzuek dituzten eta izan dituzten euskal jatorriko deituren etimologia azaltzen dugu. Abizenok euskararen barnean sortu ziren, Euskal Herrian, eta euskaldunek Ameriketara emigratu zutelarik eraman zituzten berekin. Aztertzen diren deitura gehienak etxe edo toki ize- nak dira, baina aintzat hartu behar da oikonimikoek, askotan, etxe izengoitietan dutela sorburu, hots, antroponimikoak zirela hasmentan. Ahal izan dugunean abizena iturria- rekin lotu dugu, etorkiz etxe edo leku izena zenean, alegia, deitura sortu zen etxe edo le- kuarekin batu dugu. Giltza hitzak: Euskara, etimologia, deitura, Hego eta Erdialdeko Amerika, etxe izena, leku izena, izengoitia. -

On 21 December 2005, the Commission adopted the Guidelines on National Regional Aid for 2007-20131 (hereinafter “RAG”). 2. In accordance with paragraph 100 of the RAG, each Member State should notify to the Commission, following the procedure of Article 88(3) of the EC Treaty, a single regional aid map covering its entire national territory which will apply for the period 2007-2013. In accordance with paragraph 101 of the RAG, the approved regional aid map is to be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will be considered as an integral part of the RAG. 3. On 13 March 2006, a pre-notification meeting between the Spanish authorities and the Commission's services took place. 4. By letter of 19 September 2006, registered at the Commission on the same day with the reference number A/37353, Spain notified its regional aid map for the period from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2013. 5. By letter of 23 October 2006 (reference number D/59110) the Commission requested from the Spanish authorities additional information. 6.
