He is the author or co-editor of several books and publications in the area of EU Migration Law: The Long-Term Residence Status as a Subsidiary Form of EU Citizenship (Martinus Nijhoff, 2011), EU Immigration Law: Text and Commentary (Martins Nijhoff, 2012, with S. Peers, E. Guild, K. Groenendijk and V. Moreno-Lax), and EU Justice and Security Law: After Lisbon and Stockholm (Hart, 2014, with C. Mur- phy). He is co-supervisor of the five-year research project titled “Prospects for International Migration Governance (MIGPROSP)” for which Professor Andrew Geddes, as principal investigator, has obtained a European Research Council grant. Anne Bathily is project officer at the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE), where she follows integration policies at the EU level, coordinates the core group on integration as well as the Refugee alliance. She has also worked as a consultant for the UNHCR/IOM and as a freelance journalist. Gian Carlo Blangiardo is Professor of Demography and director of the Department of Statistics at the University of Milan Bicocca. He is member of the European Commission’s group of experts in Demography, of the Scientific and Technical Board of the Region of Lombardy (social affairs), of the National Observatory on Family, of the Scientific Board of the ISMU Foundation, of the Lombardy’s Regional Observatory for Minors, of the Regional Observatory on Social Exclusion. Since 2001 he coordinates the Regional Observatory on Integration and Multiethnicity. Tiziana Caponio is Professor of Dynamics and Processes of Migration at the University of Turin, Italy and research affil- iate at the Collegio Carlo Alberto, Turin. She is the author of Competing Frames of Immigrant Integration in the EU: geographies of social inclusion in Italian regions, Policy Studies, 34:2, 162-179, 2013, with Francesca Campomori., “The- ories of Multiculturalism Italian Style: Soft or Weak Recognition?”, in R. Gray Craig is Professor of Community Development and Social Justice at Durham University, UK and Emeritus Professor of Social Justice at the Wilberforce Institute for the study of Slavery and Emancipation, Hull. Recent books include Social Justice and Public Policy, Child Slavery Now, Community Development: a Reader; and Understanding 'Race' and Ethnicity. Mariachiara Di Cesare is esearch Associate in Population Health at Imperial College London. Where she carries out research about risk factors associated to communicable and non-communicable diseases. In particular she has been working on inequalities in non-communicable diseases, risk factors contribution to overall and chronic diseases mortal- ity, and the role of early nutrition on child development.     ONOMÀSTICA BIBLIOTECA TÈCNICA DE POLÍTICA LINGÜÍSTICA European Train Names: a Historic Outline* Christian Weyers DOI: 10.2436/15.8040.01.201 Abstract This paper gives a first overview of the onomastic category of train names, searches to classify the corpus and reviews different stages of their productivity. Apart from geographical names (toponyms, choronyms, compass directions) generally indicating points of origin and destination of the trains in question, a considerable number of personal names have entered this category, of classical literary authors, musicians and scientists, but also of many fictional or non-fictional characters taken from literature or legendary traditions. In some cases also certain symbolic attributes of these persons and finally even heraldic figures have given their names to trains. In terms of their functionality, train names originally were an indicator of exclusiveness and high grade of travel quality, but they developed gradually, as they dispersed over the European continent, into a rather unspecific, generalized appellation, also for regional and local trains. After two periods of prosperity after 1950, the privatisation of railway companies starting in the 1990s had again a very positive effect on the category, as the number of named trains initially reached a new record in this decade. ***** The first train names appeared in England in the 1860s in addition to names for steam locomotives, and on two different levels. The Special Scotch Express between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh (inaugurated in 1862) was called by the public The Flying Scotsman from the 1870s, but it succeeded as the official name not before 1924. Also the names of the German diesel trainsets Der Fliegende Hamburger and Der Fliegende Kölner were colloquial name creations, as were the Train Bleu and the Settebello operated from 1922 and 1953 but officially named in 1947 and 1958, respectively.

How Downloaded from A fascinating a book it would have been, one may surmise from the "Notes" to his scenario of a fantastic "Doctor Faust" ballet, submitted to Lumley of Covent Garden in 1847, from his essay "Elementargeister" and from other of his writings. A mere depositary of his extensive reading on the subject of witchcraft http://mq.oxfordjournals.org/ and kindred superstitions, the book certainly would not have been, for Heine's interest in these subjects derived originally from an intimate personal acquaintance with a witch, recognimd as such by her credulous clientele and, after the fashion of witches, by herself. In his "Memoirs" Heine has narrated some of the weird practices of this particular witch whose confidence he had gained and whose house he frequented until he was altteeu years of at Carleton University on June 16, 2015 age or even older. If one asks, why Heine developed this taste in things dark and tabu, the answer is eiurdun la fills. He took a passionate liking—perhaps it was the first of his rather numer- ous love-affairs—to the witch's niece, whose strange beauty the poet vividly described in his "Memoirs"—'"das rote Seffchen," as she is known in Heine literature. It was this red-haired Joseffa who kindled, as the poet admits, at least two of his life- long passions: the one for women, the other for poetry, the third being that for the French Revolution.

Chapel Hill 2016 Approved by: Thomas Pfau Bryan Gilliam Eric Downing Gabriel Trop Lawrence Kramer Jørgen Bruhn © 2016 Heidi Hart ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT Heidi Hart: Contrary Voices: Heine, Hölderlin, and Goethe in the Music of Hanns Eisler (Under the direction of Thomas Pfau) Contrary Voices examines composer Hanns Eisler’s settings of nineteenth-century poetry under changing political pressures from 1925 to 1962. The poets’ ideologically fraught reception histories, both under Nazism and in East Germany, led Eisler to intervene in this reception and voice dissent by radically fragmenting the texts. His musical settings both absorb and disturb the charisma of nineteenth-century sound materials, through formal parody, dissonance, and interruption. Eisler’s montage-like work foregrounds the difficult position of a modernist artist speaking both to and against political demands placed on art. Often the very charisma the composer seeks to expose for its power to sway the body politic exerts a force of its own. At the same time, his text-settings resist ideological rigidity in their polyphonic play. A dialogic approach to musical adaptation shows that, as Eisler seeks to resignify Heine’s problematic status in the Weimar Republic, Hölderlin’s appropriation under Nazism, and Goethe’s status as a nationalist symbol in the nascent German Democratic Republic, his music invests these poetic voices with surprising fragility and multivalence.

Mal. Bei weitem kann es noch nicht mit dem deutschen TEE-Triebzug mithalten, der dieses Mal im Fokus steht œ er ist immerhin schon 50 Jahre alt. Aber auch zwei Jahre Trainini sind schon eine lange Zeit, in denen viel Holger Späing geschehen ist: Wiederholt wurde in einer Zeit der Krise im Modellbahnmarkt das Herausgeber Trainini Totenglöckchen für unsere Spurweite geläutet. Doch Totgesagte leben länger und so ist die Spurweite Z heute lebendig wie nie zuvor! Richten wir unser Augenmerk daher auf diese guten Seiten. Lange vor der Spurweite H0 hat Märklin im Jahre 1994 den Zetties einen Herzenswunsch erfüllt und den VT 11 5 im Maßstab 1:220 umgesetzt. Technisch war er zwar nicht über jede Kritik erhaben, das hat aber an seiner Popularität nichts geändert. Daher soll er heute nicht nur im Vorbild sondern auch als optisch gelungenes Spur-Z-Modell gewürdigt werden. Dieses Modell verbindet Geschichte im Großen und Kleinen mit den Topneuheiten 2007 und sogar Trainini : So eignet es sich besonders, um Geburtstage zu feiern. Das Vorbild der Märklin-Artikel 88733 und 87933 erinnert an die Anfänge des TEE und des VT 11 5 vor exakt 50 Jahren. Weil der Zuglauf in Dortmund begann, waren die erforderlichen Garnituren damals in Dortmund beheimatet œ und dort wird Trainini Praxismagazin für Spurweite Z seit zwei Jahren herausgegeben.
