LOK SABHA ___ SYNOPSIS OF DEBATES (Proceedings other than Questions & Answers) ______ Tuesday, July 15, 2014 / Ashadha 24, 1936 (Saka) ______ STATEMENT BY MINISTER Re: Reported meeting of an Indian journalist with Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan. THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF OVERSEAS INDIAN AFFAIRS (SHRIMATI SUSHMA SWARAJ): On the issue which was raised yesterday in the House, I, with utmost responsibility and categorically and equivocally would like to inform this House that the Government of India has no connection to the visit by Shri Ved Prakash Vaidik to Pakistan or his meeting with Hafiz Saeed there. Neither before leaving for Pakistan nor at his arrival there, he informed the Government that he was to meet Hafiz Saeed there. This was his purely private visit and meeting. It has been alleged here that he was somebody‟s emissary, somebody‟s disciple or the Government of India had facilitated the meeting. This is totally untrue as well as unfortunate. I would like to reiterate that the Government of India has no relation to it whatsoever. *MATTERS UNDER RULE 377 (i) SHRI BHARAT SINGH laid a statement regarding need to start work on multipurpose project for development of various facilities in Ballia Parliamentary constituency, Uttar Pradesh. THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE (SHRI RAJ NATH SINGH) responding to the issue raised by several hon. Members, said: It is not that the farmers have been pushed to the pitiable condition over the past four to five years alone. The miserable condition of the farmers is largely attributed to those who have been in power for long. I, however, want to place on record that our Government has been making every effort to double the farmers' income. We have enhanced the Minimum Support Price and did take a decision to provide an amount of Rs.6000/- to each and every farmer under Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana irrespective of the parcel of land under his possession and have brought it into force. Global Hand Washing Day 2018 State Report: Uttar Pradesh
Global Hand Washing Day 2018 State Report: Uttar Pradesh Global Hand Washing Day - 15th October 2018 State Report: Uttar Pradesh Global Hand washing Day is on October 15th. The day is marked by worldwide celebrations, events, and advocacy campaigns. This year in 2018, more than 11.6 million people promoted the simple, life- saving act of hand washing with soap on Global Hand washing Day across the state. The day was founded by the Global Hand washing Partnership in 2008 to help communities, advocates, and leaders spread the word about hand washing with soap. This year’s Global Hand washing Day theme, “Clean Hands – a recipe for health,” emphasizes the linkages between hand washing and food. Hand washing is an important part of keeping food safe, preventing diseases, and helping children grow strong. Yet, hand washing is not practiced as consistently or as thoroughly as it should be. Diarrheal disease limits the body’s ability to absorb nutrition from food and is a major cause of death in low resource settings. Hand washing with soap is an effective way to prevent these losses. Global Hand washing Day raises awareness of the importance of hand washing and encourages action to promote and sustain hand washing habits. Organizations and individuals can celebrate Global Hand washing Day by planning an event, participating in a digital campaign, or simply spreading the word about the importance of hand washing. UNICEF Support: Mobilised state and district team in planning & designing of Global Hand wash Day 2018 Facilitated rally, Soap bank and other events related to GHWD at District level. -

Speech of Shri Lalu Prasad Introducing the Railway Budget 2006-07 on 24Th February 2006
Speech of Shri Lalu Prasad Introducing the Railway Budget 2006-07 On 24th February 2006 1. Mr. Speaker Sir, I rise to present the Budget Estimates 2006-07 for the Indian Railways at a point in time when, there has been a historical turn around in the financial situation of the Indian Railways. Our fund balances have grown to Rs. 11,000 cr and our internal generation, before dividend has also reached a historic level of Rs. 11,000 cr. With this unprecedented achievement, we are striding to realize the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of making Indian Railways the premier railway of the world. Sir, this is the same Indian Railways which, in 2001 had deferred dividend payment, whose fund balances had reduced to just Rs. 350 cr and about which experts had started saying that it is enmeshed a terminal debt trap. You might term this a miracle, but I was confident that : “Mere zunu ka natija zaroor niklega, isee siaah samandar se noor niklega.” 2. Sir, the whole nation can see today that track is the same, railwaymen are the same but the image of Indian Railways is aglow. This has been the result of the acumen, devotion and determination of lakhs of railwaymen. Sir, the general perception so far has been that Railways’ finances cannot be improved without increasing second class passenger fares. But my approach is entirely different. In my view, improvements can only be brought about by raising the quality of services, reducing unit costs and sharing the resultant gain with customers. Therefore, instead of following the beaten path, we decided to tread a new one. -

HISTORY ANCIENT PERIOD in the Epic Period, the Region Covered By
HISTORY ANCIENT PERIOD In the epic period, the region covered by the present district of Gorakhpur, known as Karapatha, which formed part of the kingdom of Kosala, an important centre of Aryan culture and civilization. The renowned ascetic Gorakh Nath gave name and fame to this district by practicing austerities on the spot where the famous temple named after him stands. It appears that the earliest known monarch ruling over this region with his capital at Ayodhya, was Iksvaku, who founded the solar dynasty of Ksatriyas. It produced a number of illustrious kings till the accession of Ram, who was the greatest ruler of this dynasty. Ram had divided the kingdom, during his lifetime, into small principalities. He coronated his eldest son Kusa as the king of Kusavati present Kushinagar which lay in the Gorakhpur district till 1946. After Ram's renunciation of the world Kusa left Kusawati (Kushinagar) and repaired to Ayodhya. His cousin, Chandraketu, son of Lakshmana, even the epithet of malla (valiant) in the Ramayan, thereupon took possession of this region. The Mahabharata mentions that at the Rajasuya (imperial) sacrifice performed by Yudhisthira, a behest to conquer the east was given to Bhimasena who in turn subjugated the principality of Gopalak (identified with Gopalpur of Bansgaon tahsil). Close to Gopalpur at Bhimtola, Bhimasena is said to have reposed after his victory. The discovery of a series of enormous mounds at Gopalpur and around it suggests that the places has been old sites of extensive cities. A few development in the political history of the district during the post- Mahabharata period is the functioning of a number of republics under the sovereignty of the kingdom of Kosala. -
