Xenopol”, Iaşi ISTORIE BOGDAN-PETRU MALEON OBSERVAŢII PRIVIND ORIGINEA ŞI EVOLUŢIA SOCIALĂ A CLERULUI DE MIR DIN MOLDOVA SECOLELOR XIV-XVI* Stabilirea locului deţinut de clerul de mir în societate comportă o abordare nuanţată, în acord cu pluralitatea relaţiilor de putere şi cu particularităţile culturale din lumea medievală românească. Prin origine şi mod de viaţă, slujitorii altarului erau mai curând parte a lumii ţărăneşti decât o elită cultivată, la curent cu normele oficiale, aceştia beneficiind de o anume libertate, atât sub raportul îndatoririlor canonice, cât şi al moralei individuale, mai ales că resimţeau vag autoritatea instanţelor ecleziastice superioare. La nivelul manifestărilor în plan comunitar, ei participau la forurile locale de judecată şi receptau mărturiile depuse cu prilejul tranzacţiilor funciare efectuate prin acordul părţilor1 şi puteau fi solicitaţi pentru a adeveri sau scrie acte de vânzare-cumpărare şi testamente. De asemenea, confirmau în biserică interogatoriile împricinaţilor şi pronunţau blesteme sau anateme2. Întrucât erau printre puţinii ştiutori de carte, preoţilor le revenea misiunea de a transmite, în cadrul lăcaşelor de cult, diverse chemări în judecată care erau făcute uneori oral, dar alteori prin cărţi de soroc, situaţie în care nu toată lumea avea acces în mod direct la conţinutul lor. Mai mult decât atât, oamenii bisericii aminteau, prin trimitere la sărbătorile religioase, termenele de judecată sau datele scadente pentru înapoierea datoriilor. După stingerea disputelor, restabilirea armoniei în cadrul comunităţii era întărită prin jurăminte făcute pe obiectele sfinte şi prin blestemul rostit în biserică. Expresiile multiple ale prezenţei personalului ecleziastic la nivelul forurilor administrativ-juridice comunitare trebuie interpretate din perspectiva dublă a prestigiului sacerdotal şi a apartenenţei la elita socială locală.     Sanda Pădureţu Senior Lecturer Technical University of Cluj-Napoca Romania FREEDOM, HUMAN RIGHTS AND CENSORSHIP IN NINETEENTH-CENTURY ROMANIAN LITERATURE Mainstream contemporary literary studies and also research in the history of political thought1 consider that at the heart of serious exploration into the field of literary history and literary theory (expressed both in canonical and non-ca- nonical works of all kind) has always been the question: “How shall I read this text?”. The answers have varied greatly over time. When we revisit the works of the past, we read them with an eye towards their immediate application to the present. Throughout historically changing contexts, past literature has shaped its own form of political expression. Within the variety of ways of approaching past texts we must consider the interplay of text and context. The textual moments in the history of nineteenth-century Romanian literature include political thought, freedom and censorship and the debates about it. Cen- sorship at the time included: controlling the expression, communication and dissemination of ideas. This goes to the heart of issues: authority, obedience, subjection, civility, discrimination of the public and private spheres, control of speech, writing, performance, the state limiting the freedom of expression and thus the good citizen being the one who practices self-censorship, hegemonic pressures of patriarchy, ideology, gender or ethnic superiority, limits to the form of expression (subordinate groups or even majorities), reasons of state security, state secrets, state agencies. The key terms colliding are modern liberal/secular/ Western society. What “we may know” vs. what “we should remain in ignorance of” remain disputed issues, thus difficult, complex, and still unresolved.

As a historian by profession, author and co-author of an impressive number of studies,2 Chiaburu offers in this volume a synthetic overview of the amount of manuscripts and printed texts in the Moldavian geographical area throughout the whole period of the principality’s existence3 (the end of the period being – as it appears in the notes contained in the manuscripts and books, published in collaboration with Professor Ioan Caproşu – 1859, that is, the union of the principalities). These include newspapers, chronicles, and notes in liturgical books. The article offers an overview of weather variability in 1812–1818, like changes in temperature, precipitation, and storms, which led to higher food prices, and to a food and livestock feed crisis. The period under examination begins in the summer of 1812, when very low winter temperatures and a cool summer were recorded in these provinces. It includes the summer of 1815, when Europe witnessed the first effects of Tambora’s eruption. It ends in 1818 when the administrative measures introduced to combat the food crisis and famine were not needed any more. The natural events depicted and recorded in the above-mentioned sources were part of the worldwide weather extremes, which are presented here in their regional-European context. LASCĂR Adrian SĂVOIU Limba şi literatura română Manual pentru casa a IX-a ARGUMENT Alcătuirea manualului de limba şi literatura română pentru clasa a IX-a s-a realizat în funcţie de câteva criterii, asupra cărora programa insistă cu deosebire: accesibilitate, atractivitate şi valoare. Deşi majoritatea textelor literare selectate aparţin autorilor canonici, din dorinţa de a îndeplini şi un al patrulea criteriu, varietatea, s-a apelat şi la textele altor autori, cu ajutorul cărora, am considerat, se pot exersa în mod adecvat anumite competenţe. Manualul este structurat în cinci module (unităţi): Joc şi joacă, Familia, Scene din viaţa de ieri şi de azi, Aventură, călătorie şi Personalităţi, exemple, modele. El propune studiul integrat al limbii, al comunicării şi al textului literar. În consecinţă, în cele mai multe cazuri, au fost preferate ca suport pentru aplicaţiile din domeniul Limbă şi comunicare textele selectate pentru domeniul Literatură. Fiecare capitol este realizat conform unui algoritm care presupune urmă - toarele etape: Înainte de text, unde se urmăreşte o anticipare şi o apropiere de atmosfera şi de particularităţile creaţiei care urmează a fi receptată; Textul, reprodus în totalitate sau, în cazul celor prea ample, fragmentar; Puncte de reper (pe banda laterală), care oferă un număr de sugestii pentru înţelegere şi interpretare; Explorarea textului, în care se formulează cerinţe diverse, vi - zând competenţe de receptare şi de producere a mesajelor în diferite situaţii de comunicare, sesizarea unor valenţe stilistice, capacitatea de analiză, gândirea critică etc.; Evaluare curentă. Aplicaţii, în care se propun diverse aplicaţii ce pot fi efectuate atât în clasă cât şi acasă; Dincolo de text, unde se fac conexiuni diverse cu alte opere literare ale autorului sau ale altor autori.
