Practically Perfect – The Music of Julie Andrews is all about the legendary Julie Andrews. Performed by Karla Hillam and Jonathan Guthrie-Jones, with Michelle Nguyen on , the show takes a look at Julie’s life, her music and her leading men.

Based on The Julie Andrews Hour, the show is a glorious 80 minute musical concert/ with both performers singing and dancing, whilst weaving stories of her life both on and off the stage, from the West End to Broadway and onto Hollywood. With beautiful costumes, extraordinary dancing, together with some of the most memorable music ever written and sung, this is an exquisite musical tribute to a living legend which will thrill and delight audiences of all ages.

KARLA HILLAM

Karla is an actress and singer originally from Wagga Wagga NSW. She has appeared on hit TV shows such as Offspring, Wentworth and The Warriors as well as spending plenty of time on the stage. Karla has toured the east coast of Australia with theatre company Brainstorm Productions, toured Australia and NZ with the debauchery of The Divine Miss Bette the smash hit cabaret for Neil Gooding Productions, appeared as Missy in the premier Australian production of The Marvellous Wonderettes at 45 downstairs and as Jacobs in the critically acclaimed, Australian premier of The Exonerated Sol III company. She is also a member of Latino cabaret sensation Los Nachos Trios! which won the People’s Choice award for Short + Sweet cabaret festival in 2013 and went on to play the Spiegel Tent for the Ballarat Cabaret festival and the Noosa Arts Theatre for the Noosa Long Weekend Festival. Karla recently premiered her brand new cabaret Ugly Duckling at Fringe Festival and appeared as Catherine in The Memory of Water at Chapel off Chapel. She has a Bachelor of Music - Performance majoring in Voice from Box Hill Institute and she has studied acting with Richard Sarrell at The Rehearsal Room in Melbourne and Wendy Ward at the The Acting Studio in the States.

Karla is a proudly represented by Rick O’Brien at Untitled Management and have been a member of Equity since 2012.

JONATHAN GUTHRIE-JONES

Born into a musical family, heavily involved in Melbourne’s non-professional theatre community, Jonathan has been a regular fixture of the city’s theatrical stages for nearly 20 years.

Performances include leading roles in Me & My Girl, Singin’ In The Rain, Hot Mikado, Witches of Eastwick, Next To Normal, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Crazy for You, Chicago and – The Musical, to name a few. In addition, Jonathan has twice been the recipient of the Best award from the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria for his performances in All Shook Up (CLOC Music Theatre) and as Peter Allen in (Babirra Music Theatre). Jonathan has spent time performing at Tokyo and was also a member of the Australian premiere cast of Tomorrow Morning. In addition, Jonathan has toured Australia with hit shows Time Warp, Shake, Rattle & Roll and most recently I Still Call Australia Home – The Peter Allen Story. Presented by JTM Productions

MARGARET FISK AM - Artistic Director / Executive Producer / Writer

Margaret has been involved in the event industry for over 35 years staging and managing events from large scale conferences, concerts, industry nights, product launches and choral activities.

For theatre, Margaret has been a producer, company manager, production manager and stage manager for a variety of companies including ROB GUEST

ENDOWMENT CONCERTS (2012, 2013, 2014) and OPRAHFICATION AND BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Melbourne and USA Season with the Adam Lowe Group). Margaret was also the Consultant Producer for the Department of Defence for their 2014 production of THE LONG WAY HOME ( Theatre Company) and in 2019, the Co- Producer for BARNUM – THE CIRCUS MUSICAL playing at the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne.

During 2014/2015/2016 her hit show CALIFORNIA DREAMING – THE MUSIC OF THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS undertook several tours across Australia including touring New Zealand in 2016. Also in 2016 her production of – The Songbook Of Her Life toured Australia after its very successful national launch at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. Her highly successful production of A FINE ROMANCE: The Magic of Fred Astaire has wowed audiences across Australia in 2016, 2017 and 2018 with sold out shows and breaking box office records wherever it went. Also in 2018, JUST A COUPLE OF SONG AND DANCE MEN toured to VIC, QLD and SA, to sold-out performances, and is touring again in 2019, including playing at QPAC and Canberra Theatre. 2019 also sees Margaret’s latest show PRACTICALLY PERFECT – The Music of Julie Andrews undertaking an extensive Australian tour In addition, her show A NIGHT IN VEGAS is touring to QLD and she is in pre-production for the 2019 Australian premiere of WE LOVE A PIANO, starring The Two Piano Men.

With Moira Bennett (At Last, The Story), Margaret co-produced BUGLE BOYS, A Salute to the Andrews Sisters which opened at Chapel off Chapel in 2015 and subsequently had seasons in Canberra and a 2016 sold-out season at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. 2018 saw the international debut of BUGLE BOYS at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018, followed by a UK tour.

For Magnormos, Margaret has been a producer for THE HATPIN (Theatre Works), MILK AND HONEY, DEAR WORLD, HELLO DOLLY (Jerry Herman Triptych, Melbourne Recital Centre), OZMADE MUSICALS 2010 and OZMADE MUSICALS 2012 (Comedy Theatre) and FLOWERCHILDREN (Theatre Works), FLOWERCHILDREN (Comedy Theatre), GODSPELL, PIPPIN, CHILDREN OF EDEN (Stephen Schwartz Triptych, Melbourne Recital Centre) and AN EVENING WITH STEPHEN SCHWARTZ (Melbourne Recital Centre). She has also been the Production Stage Manager for Magnormos including ANYONE CAN WHISTLE in 2010 as part of A SONDHEIM TRIPTYCH. During her time as producer with Magnormos, two of the productions won Green Room Awards (THE HATPIN and FLOWERCHILDREN). Prior to this Margaret produced CALL GIRL THE MUSICAL (two seasons), THE HISTORY BOYS and the hugely successful I HEART FRANKSTON (Melbourne International Comedy Festival) with Bryce Ives.

Through her family company JTM Productions, Margaret produces, manages and provides opportunities for Australian artists and those involved behind the scenes. Projects include: the Award Winning CD “TALKING ANGELS’ by Annemiek Wilson, the publication of the poetry booklet ‘A JOKER’S RIGHT OF REPLY’ by Simon Mansell (Choir of Hard Knocks), and with world-renowned Australian blind photographer Andrew Follows, numerous photographic exhibitions including an international tour. Margaret’s community work includes being a previous Choir Manager/Events Manager for Choir of Hope and Inspiration and the multi-award winning 'Choir of Hard Knocks'. She is the founder and until recently, the National Coordinator of the Defence Special Needs Support Group.

In 1996, Margaret received an OAM and in 2016 was awarded an AM. She is also a recipient of the Centenary of Australia Medal and in 2018 was a Baton Bearer for the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay. Presented by JTM Productions
