TO US ROY RODWALD REPRESENTS GERMAN ENGINEERING. More than three decades ago Roy started windsurfing and soon after he discovered his passion for flying. He travelled through California and all over Europe with his delta hang-glider to find the best spots and thermal winds. Later he changed to paragliding in order to fit more of his own-shaped windsurfing boards onto the roof rack. When the first kiteboarders started riding in Europe Roy found his joy for flying and surfing combined in one sport and bought his first kite in 2000. Ever since this is his biggest passion. After competing at the Windsurf Worldcup Sylt 1984 he revealed his excitement for competing in 2009 at the German Race Championship. In 2011 he won the German Title in Racing. “The sport has so many faces. I love wave riding or holding the highest angle on my race board. Lately kiteboarding evolved even further with the new enthusiasm for foils – which I fully share!”
Last year Roy ended his job at one of Germany´s biggest energy supplier in order to fully dedicate his time to the sport. Ever since his racing career he build his own fins and also tried hundreds of different kite- and windsurfing shapes. His experience throughout the different industries and sports and in testing makes him the ideal product developer for GA Kiteboarding. Together with his son Mario Rodwald and our Swiss designer Urs Hungerbühler he will define our 2016 product range. Roy: “This is a job which truly fulfils me and the first test rounds in Tarifa and Cape Town showed that we have a very big potential. A big thanks to my wife at this point who supports the endless hours working in my garage and at the beach. We are very much looking forward to present you the 2016 products this summer.”
