NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION MEDIA GUIDE media policies: matchday

The Communications staff is pleased to assist you in your coverage of the club dur- ing its 26th in in 2021. Please review the club's media policies, guidelines, and resources updated as of April 2021 to aid you in your coverage of the Revolution and MLS this season and beyond. Thank you for your continued understanding as the Revolution, MLS, and Gillette employ a number of health and safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 MATCHDAY CREDENTIALS Media members representing accredited media outlets may apply for single-match credentials on a rolling basis throughout the season by contacting the Communications staff at [email protected] at least 48 hours in advance of the game. Media who have been approved for a credential will be contacted by the Communications staff at least 24 hours before a match.

All media credentials and parking passes are non-transferrable and are distributed at the discretion of the Revolution Communications staff. Credentialed media are expected to produce relevant and professional coverage for their accredited media outlets. The Communications staff reserves the right to review a media member's credential status at any time and may request samples of recent coverage.

Media interested in covering a Revolution II home match during the club's USL League One season should contact the Communications staff at [email protected] at least 48 hours prior to a match.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT All media who have been issued credentials or who are granted access to the team are expected to follow the guidelines set forth in this document, as well as the instructions of the Revolution staff, stadium employees, and security, or risk limitation of access or revocation of credentials.

Media availability is granted with the purpose of providing access to interviews and written, audio, and visual accounts of the team, as appropriate. No member of the media should use this access for autographs, per- sonal photographs, exchanging personal contact information, or commercial requests. In addition, media are expected to use the access to produce measurable coverage for an accredited media outlet. Failure to meet the above conditions, or failure to abide by the conditions set forth on the back of all MLS and Revolution credentials, will result in the permanent revocation of credentials.

HEALTH & SAFETY All media members are required to follow the matchday health and safety protocols set forth by Gillette Sta- dium, Major League Soccer, and the Revolution, which are determined through close collaboration with state and local health officials and government authorities, as well as Major League Soccer. All media members at must wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines at all times. Health and safety guidelines will be strictly enforced with a zero-tolerance policy. Failure to comply with club or stadium safety measures may result in the immediate revocation of your credential and removal from stadium grounds.

MATCH DAY MEDIA INSTRUCTIONS Media Parking (Lot 10): General media parking for the 2021 MLS season is located in Lot 10 on the west side of Gillette Stadium, adjacent to the Empower Field House. PDF parking passes will be distributed via email at least 24 hours prior to each match. Plese print the parking pass in advance of every match and display it on your dashboard upon arrival.

Media Entrance & Will Call: The media entrance is located at the uBid Gate, with a dedicated media lane located on the far right. The stadium will open to media two hours before kickoff unless earlier access has been arranged with the Communications staff. Credentials will be available for pickup upon arrival. Media who have not contacted the Communications staff to RSVP in advance will not be granted entry.

Press will be escorted to their working locations in the Blue Level press box via the W3 elevator lobby or the stadium ramps. Media will also be escorted out of the building through the uBid gate following the match. Photographers will be escorted to their fixed seat locations in the stadium's lower bowl. Digital match tickets will be issued to photographers in advance communicating their seat locations.

GAMEDAY MEDIA ACCESS To begin the 2021 MLS season, all postgame media access will be conducted virtually. The Revolution and opposing teams will distribute links for their respective postgame interview rooms prior to each match. Broadcast-quality video and audio, as well as complete transcripts, will be distributed following the virtual press conference. Footage from gameday media access will also be uploaded on the MLS Imagen platform (register here).

GAME ACTION - VIDEO RESTRICTIONS During games, local ENG and news crews are allowed to shoot the first 15 minutes of each half. At the 15- and 60-minute marks, all video cameras not belonging to broadcast rights holders must be turned off.

REVOLUTION TRAINING CENTER The New England Revolution are headquartered at the Revolution Training Center, located at 1776 Revolution Way, Foxborough, MA 02035. The state-of-the-art performance complex, unveiled in December 2019, houses the Revolution first team, Revolution II, the Revolution Academy, and front office.

TRAINING ACCESS AND MEDIA AVAILABILITY Media interested in attending a Revolution training session to capture photography or video b-roll must con- tact the Revolution Communications staff at least 24 hours in advance of a session. Entering the 2021 season, the majority of interviews will continue to be conducted virtually. Media schedules complete with training access times and virtual media availability information will be shared on a weekly basis.

Media who have been approved to attend a training session should follow the below directions and must obey all health and safety protocols set forth by the Communications staff. Upon arrival, please call your staff contact to be escorted onto the training fields. Due to health and safety protocols, no media will be permitted inside the facility unless access has been pre-arranged with the Communications staff.

REVOLUTION MEDIA SERVICES Interviews and Access: All requests for interviews for Revolution players, coaches, executives, and staff must be submitted to the Revolution Communications staff. Contacting players or team management directly – including through social media platforms – could result in the revocation of credentials and future access.

Distribution Lists: To be added to the team's primary media distribution list, contact media@revolutionsoc- cer.net. Please specify if you would also like to be added to the club's separate distribution lists for matchday information (lineups and game notes) and Revolution II news updates.

Official Website:Revolutionsoccer.net is the official website of the New England Revolution. All content posted on the site by the team, including video, may be republished in its entirety by media outlets, with credit cited as “New England Revolution.” Note that user-generated content, including user comments, photos, and videos, may not be republished without explicit permission.

Media Website: The Revolution Communications staff maintains a comprehensive Media Website at Revo- lutionsoccer.net/media. This site is updated on a regular basis and contains a variety of resources including game notes and recaps, coach/player bios, an audio pronunciation guide, the club's digital media guide and all-time history, and links to various photo/video assets.

Game Notes and Postgame Recaps: No fewer than 48 hours before each MLS match, the Communications staff distributes a comprehensive game guide complete with updated rosters, statistics, opponent information, injury reports, and other relevant team notes. Following each match, the Communications staff distributes a postgame recap complete with a match synopsis, notes, and milestones. Following postgame media access, the club also distributes complete interview transcripts, broadcast-quality interview footage, and match pho- tos. Photos and match highlights are intended only for editorial and linear broadcast use - not for personal or social media use.

Weekly Interview Soundbytes: After each virtual media availability, and no later than two days before each match, the Communications staff will distribute recent training b-roll, photos, and transcripts to preview each match. To request additional interviews or specific b-roll, please email [email protected].

High-Resolution Photos: For high-resolution action photos, video footage, and other media assets for edi- torial use, please contact the Communications staff at [email protected]. Links to club headshots and select photos are available through the Media Website, though media are welcome to contact the Revolu- tion Communications staff with any specific requests.

MEDIA ASSETS: WHERE TO FIND REVOLUTION SOUND, PHOTO & VIDEO Media interested in accessing interview footage, match highlights, high-resolution photos, and many other assets from Major League Soccer and all 27 clubs, including the Revolution, should register an account on the league's Imagen cloud platform by clicking here.

In addition, click here to access Revolution photo/video assets via the club's BOX account. The majority of these assets are also available on the Imagen platform, though the BOX folders contain additional photo ar- chives sorted by individual players/coaches for convenient access. Contact [email protected] with any issues accessing these files or to request additional assets.

TRAINING REPORTING POLICY In coverage of training sessions, we ask for cooperation in observing the following policies. Failure to do so could result in the revocation of media credentials. • Do not report on match strategy deployed at training. This includes describing specific formations, personnel groupings, set pieces, and lineup combinations. • Do not quote, paraphrase, or report comments made by coaches, staff, or players during a training ses- sion while they are on the training field. • Please follow the directions of the Communications staff regarding video/photo limitations of certain tactical information such as 11-vs.-11 drills, set pieces, and more.
