The Lincoln-Reagan Dinner is held each year to honor an individual who has demonstrated exceptional conservative leadership in the state of Alabama.

In 2006, the Tuscaloosa County Republican Party hosted the first Lincoln-Reagan dinner to honor an individual of outstanding conservative character. The collected resources were used to strengthen the Republican Party. At the dinner, we honored Alabama’s Senior United States Senator, Richard C. Shelby. We were privileged to have 360 people in attendance, including former Massachusetts Governor and 2008 GOP Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney,

who served as our keynote speaker. The second-annual dinner honored Alabama’s Sixth District Congressman, U.S. Representative Spencer T. Bachus, III. We were privileged to have over 200 guests, including State Party Chairman Mike Hubbard as our keynote speaker. Last year, we were proud to have over 400 people in attendance to hear former Mississippi Senator Trent Lott as our keynote speaker to honor Alabama’s Junior United States Junior Senator, Jeff Sessions. This year the dinner will honor Governor Bob Riley, who has brought positive recognition to the Republican Party and served our state with admiration and distinction. The Tuscaloosa County Republican Party is privileged to have the opportunity to honor a man of his character and integrity. All funds generated by the dinner are used by the Tuscaloosa County Republican Party to strengthen the Republican Party and help elect Republicans at the local, state, and national levels. We are certain The Fourth Annual Lincoln Reagan Dinner will be our most successful year yet.

Bob Riley is one of the most well-respected elected officials in the history of the state of Alabama. He was born and raised in the Clay County town of Ashland, where his family has lived on ranches and farms for six generations. Growing up in a small town, experiencing firsthand the merit of hard work, accountability, and determination, Bob Riley was instilled with the core values our nation was founded on, values that he has continued to demonstrate throughout his political career.

In 1996 after running a number of successful businesses, Bob Riley was elected to represent Alabama’s third congressional district. He worked to pass the first balanced budget in a generation, the first tax cuts in 20 years, and a stronger national defense. In 2002, Bob Riley was elected Governor of Alabama. He has improved education, put Alabama’s economy on the right track and fostered honesty in the Governor’s Office. By making his administration accountable and receptive, his accomplishments include but are not limited to changing Alabama’s economic model, achieving record low unemployment rates, and attaining a budget surplus.

Bob Riley was re-elected in 2006 and is currently pursuing an agenda called “Plan 2010.” Plan 2010 proposes more funding for schools, including a bond issue to help school systems with construction projects and repairs. He has proposed pro-growth tax incentives that will help middle class families, make health care more affordable and create new jobs.

The Tuscaloosa County Republican Party is excited to host this dinner recognizing Governor Bob Riley for a life dedicated to conservative values, character, integrity, and exceptional leadership for the state of Alabama.

Joe Scarborough is currently the host of MSNBC’s, “,” ranked the top news show of 2008 by the New York Times and referred to as “revolutionary” by Time magazine. Along with previously hosting “Scarborough Country,” also on MSNBC, Scarborough was the publisher and editor of the award-winning newspaper The Florida Sun. Prior to his career in newspaper and television, he served in the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 2001 as a Republican from the 1st district of Florida. He became the first Republican to represent the district since its formation in 1903, and the first freshman Republican to represent part of the Florida Panhandle since 1879.

Prior to launching his successful political career, Scarborough went to The University of Alabama as an undergraduate, where in his own words, he was “blessed to get to watch the great Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant coach his final season.” After graduation, he attended Law School at The University of Florida. Joe and his wife Susan and their four children currently reside in Pensacola, Florida, New York City, and Washington, D. C.
