  • Harem-I Hümayun'da Sultan Olamayanlarin Izleri: Cariye
Marmara Üniversitesi Kadın ve Toplumsal Cinsiyet Araştırmaları Dergisi, 1: 35-41 DOI: 10.26695/mukatcad.2017.3 HAREM-I HÜMAYUN’DA SULTAN OLAMAYANLARIN IZLERI: CARIYE VAKIFLARI NON-SULTAN WOMEN’S FOOTPRINTS AT THE IMPERIAL HAREM: WAQF OF THE JARIYES a Ayşenur Karademir 1 ÖZ Bu çalışmada Osmanlı Devleti harem-i hümayununda yaşamış ancak valide sultan, haseki sultan ya da hanım sultan dışında kalan, yani pa- dişahın ailesine mensup olmayan kadınların kurduğu vakıflar ve hayır eserleri konu alınmıştır. Özellikle XV. yüzyıl ortalarında devşirme sistemine geçilmesiyle haremde ‘cariye’ denen farklı milletlere mensup, hür ve Müslüman olmayan kadınların sayısında artış meydana gel- miş, XVI. yüzyıldan itibaren padişahın ailesini kurduğu kadınların tamamı harem-i hümayun cariyelerinden seçilmiştir. ‘Acemilik’ denen ilk evreden, ‘valide sultanlık’a uzanan basamaklarda buradaki kadınların tamamına konumlarıyla ilişkili gelirler bağlanmıştır. Gelirini kul- lanmada özgür bırakılan cariyeler kendi ölçülerinde vakıflar kurabilmiştir. Bunlardan daye hatun, hazinedar usta, kethüda kadın gibi nis- peten yüksek geliri olanlar cami, mescit, çeşme, sıbyan mektebi gibi farklı türde eserler yaptırmışlardır. Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi’ndeki (BOA) belgeler ve ikincil kaynaklar üzerinde değerlendirilecek bu vakıfların ardında iktisadi, sosyal, siyasi amaçlar güden cariyelerin eser- leri varlıklarını kamusal alanda gözler önüne serdiği gibi sadece ‘odalık’ olmadıklarını, organizasyonlu bir kurum olan haremde kariyer ya- pılabildiği düşüncesini ortaya koymaktadır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Harem-i hümayun, cariye, vakıf, usta kadın, kalfa kadın, vakıf politikası ABSTRACT This study focuses on the pious foundations that was built by jariyes of the imperial harem who were not member of the royal family such as queen mother, the favorite or sultan in the classical age of Ottoman empire. Murad’ın Kitâbü’l-Menâmât’taki Mektuplarına Dair Bazı Tespitler Türkân Alvan * Özet Sultan III. Murad, (s.1574-1595), Osmanlı padişahları içinde rüyalarını ve der- vişliğini kendi ağzından anlatan tek sultandır. Sultan III. Murad’ın Şüca Dede’ye seyr ü sulûku sırasında yazdığı yüzlerce mektubu Başmirahor Nuh Ağa Kitâbü’l- Menâmât adıyla istinsah etmiştir. Bu eser, sadece Sultan III. Murad’ın tasavvuf tecrübesini ve şeyhiyle diyaloglarını içermez; aynı zamanda Şabanîyye tarîkatı- nın seyr ü sulûk anlayışını, vahdet-i vücud tartışmalarını ve sarayın iç dünyasını, devrin politikalarını ayrıntılarıyla anlatır. Çalışmamızda Kitâbü’l-Menâmât’daki mektuplarına göre Sultan III. Murad’ın devrindeki olaylar ile padişahın tasavvufî yönü analiz edilecektir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Sultan III. Murad, Şeyh Şüca, rüya mektupları, şiir, ta- savvuf “From His Period To His Spiritual Journey Some Ideas About Sultan Murad III’s Letters In Kitâbu’l-Manâmât” Abstract Sultan Murad III, (r.1574-1595), is the only sultan, being a narrator of his dre- ams and mystical identity among the Ottoman sultans. Mirahor (the master of the Horse) Nuh Ağa compiled hundreds of letters written by Murad III to Şuca Dede under the title Kitâbu’l-Manâmât. These letters not only reflect mystical experien- ces of Murad III including dialoges with Sheikh Şuca; but also shows rules of seyr u sulûk (spiritual journey) in Şabaniyye order, arguments about vahdet-i vucûd (the unity of entity), the psychology of a sultan as being a dervish, internal affairs of the Palace and political issues of the century.

  • Safiye's Household and Venetian Diplomacy
Maria Pia PEDANI 9 SAFIYE'S HOUSEHOLD AND VENETIAN DIPLOMACY I n the first half of the nineteenth century, historians discovered the importance of the papers produced by the councils and offices of the Republic of Venice and kept in the Venetian State Archives, in the ancient Frari convent, since 1822. Emanuele Antonio Cicogna in 1825 and Leopold Ranke in 1829 are usually considered the first scholars to have consulted these documents after having obtained permission to see them from the emperor Francis I. At that time without this special per- mission historians could not enter the Frari Archives. Even the famous collection of Venetian ambassadors’ reports, edited by Eugenio Alberi, Nicolò Barozzi and Guglielmo Berchet, had to be made on the basis of copies kept in private collections and in other Italian archives and libraries. For this reason the editors, and many scholars after them, did not realise that further reports existed in the Venetian State Archives and that some ambassadors and secretaries even composed two different reports, one for the public and one for the Senate1.
