Sports Illustrated Sold to Authentic Brands for $110 Million

"Marketing and brand development company has purchased the intellectual property of Sports Illustrated from for $110 million, the companies announced Monday night. The sale is not a traditional exchange of assets but instead creates an unusual partnership to steward the country’s most iconic legacy .

Meredith will continue to print the magazine and manage the editorial side of Sports Illustrated for at least two years as part of the deal, people with knowledge of the agreement told The Washington Post, while Authentic Brands will license the magazine’s brand and all of its content."

Patent Protection for Stem Cells - Expanding Opportunities "Therapeutic applications of stem cells are central to the promise of regenerative medicine. An increasing of stem cell therapies are being approved for clinical use and by some estimates the global market is expected to grow to ~5 billion dollars by 2024. However, commercializing any therapeutic application is difficult. Careful consideration of patent strategy at the outset of R&D is critical for establishing a competitive advantage."
