Background This report contains a baseline analysis for the Trans-Borders project. Regional analyses will demonstrate the needs and efforts on cross-border regions and provide the basis for further steps in the project, for identifying best practice examples and for building strategies for border regions. Some of the data in this report can also be used to evaluate the outcome of the project’s concepts and measures. Topics in this report Topics covered in the regional analyses were: geographic aspects, demographics, spatial information, connections overview, tourism, commuters, finance, passengers and strategy. Test regions This report delivers information that can be used to identify the problems and needs of cross-border public transport in the following test areas: 1. Saxony (DE) - Lower Silesia (PL) 2. Liberec region (CZ) - Lower Silesia (PL) 3. Liberec region (CZ) - Saxony (DE) 4. Carinthia (AT) - Koroška (SI) Information is provided for each of the five regions involved: Saxony, Lower Silesia, the Liberec region, Koroška and Carinthia. The report is intended to serve as an additional information base for the project partners, especially the working groups, and for the next project steps: • Transnational Workshop in peripheral regions of Central Europe (best practice) • Stakeholder Workshop for all PP regions • Strategy building process • Best practice review of PT services in border regions 1.2. Methods Project partners completed the templates containing the different criteria. The data was analysed, aggregated and presented in this report by Elfsights GmbH (Langenargen, Germany) on behalf of the Office of the Carinthian Government, Department 7. Support was provided by the Transport Association of Carinthia. Not all data templates were complete for all of the criteria / topics and regions. The descriptive analysis, calculation of further indicators and graphical output were produced by MS Excel. Conclusions were drawn by the analyst, where possible. Interpretation of the results should be carried out by the project partners’ working group members. 4 1.3. Overview of test regions Data from five regions were analysed: Saxony (DE), Lower Silesia (PL), the Liberec region (CZ), Carinthia (AT) and Koroška (SI). Table 1 gives an overview of regions and municipalities. Table 1: Municipalities of the test regions, including total area, permanent settlement area and number of inhabitants Permanent

  • Covid-19 and Social Work: a Collection of Country Reports
COVID-19 AND SOCIAL WORK: A COLLECTION OF COUNTRY REPORTS Edited by Lena Dominelli, Timo Harrikari, Joseph Mooney, Vesna Leskošek and Erin Kennedy Tsunoda Contributors are members of the COVID-19 Social Work Research Forum July 2020 ii Disclaimer This compilation of Country Reports of the COVID-19 pandemic provides a snapshot of the situation in particular countries at a moment in time. It has not been peer reviewed, although it was edited several times to clarify the usage of the English language which is not the first language of a number of the authors, and to ensure uniformity of style and referencing. The authors of each Country Report are wholly responsible for the content and accuracy of the data and views expressed therein. Thus, neither IASSW nor the editors, individually or collectively are accountable for their work. The editors and IASSW are simply facilitating access to people’s country narratives. Sharing Information This document should be easy to use and provide comparable information which we trust will be useful for research purposes in social work around the world. The contributors to this first edition of the collection are members of the COVID-19 Social Work Research Forum. However, not all members of the Forum have contributed to it in the short timeframe we had available. We would urge those who would like to contribute their country report to contact Lena Dominelli at [email protected] and she will facilitate access to the contributions already on the IASSW website. Future intention There is an intention to turn this collection into a book at some point in the near future, but we felt it was important to record the positions of various countries now, briefly and quickly.

At the same time, a growing appreciation of regional issues has raised interest in regional differences in each of these countries. This volume of the “Portrait of the Regions” series responds to this need and follows on in a tradition which has seen four volumes devoted to the current Member States, a fifth to Hungary, a sixth volume dedicated to the Czech Republic and Poland, a seventh to the Slovak Republic and the most recent volume covering the Baltic States, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Examining the 12 statistical regions of Slovenia, this ninth volume in the series has an almost identical structure to Volume 8, itself very similar to earlier publications.

  • Regional Action Plan Liberec Region
REGIONAL ACTION PLAN LIBEREC REGION – LOWER SILESIA For improving cross-border passenger rail Final transport Liberec Region - Lower Silesia 11 2018 D.T2.1.2 Page 1 The Trans-Borders project is to make a significant contribution to further development of German-Polish-Czech cooperation in the field of rail passenger transport. In recent years, quantitative, temporal and quality improvement has been noted between Lower Silesia and the Liberec Region, but this process requires continuation as public transport is still not fully competitive with, for example, individual means of transport. Targeted measures within the cross-border project will allow the process that has already started to continue. The development and implementation of a regional action plan aimed at connecting the cross-border region between Lower Silesia and the Liberec Region will contribute to connecting this area with the nearest TEN-T hubs in Wrocław and Praha and will improve not only its communication accessibility but also its attractiveness. The implementation of the regional action plan will support the strategy for sustainable cross-border passenger transport and will correspond to the proposed measures and actions. Page 2 MOTIVATION Linking the peripheral area of Borderland CZ/D/PL to the TEN-T node The neighbouring regions of Lower Silesia and the Liberec Region are located between two corridors of the European railway traffic core network, namely the Orient/East-Med Corridor and the Baltic-Adriatic corridor. For the development of both regions, it is necessary to improve access to the corridors and their respective hubs in Wrocław, Praha and Dresden and between them.
