Det har gått 30 år sedan The Mobile Homes bildades i stockholmsförorten Sätra. Längtan bort, eskapism, var och är drivkraften och motorn i bandets elektroniska pop. Genom åren har man samarbetat med olika artister i sin strävan att förfina och utveckla det syntetiska uttrycket. Christian Falk och Karl Bartos (ex Kraftwerk) är två av dessa personer. Jubileumskvällen på Debaser Medis den 7 mars blir en spelning utöver det vanliga med ett flertal kända gäster. De två första namnen som vi stolt kan presentera är Familjen och Wolfgang Flür (ex Kraftwerk). Fler namn presenteras inom kort. The Mobile Homes består av Hans Erkendal, Per Liliefeldt, Patrik Brun, Andreas Brun och Sami Sirviö. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE AWAY 17 maj gästar kanadensiska Blood Ceremony Debaser Strand! Blood Ceremony omvandlar fascinationen för skräck till en musikalisk vision. Deras musik har beskrivits som flöjtbetonad witch-rock med texter fyllda av svart magi och klassiska skräckfilmsreferenser. Många av deras låtar kännetecknas av sångerskan Alia O'briens flöjtsolon som leder tankarna till Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson. Grunden ligger i den tyngre rocken som andas tidigt 70-tal med inslag av acid folk. Inspirationen hittar bandet i allt från 60-70 talets proggressiva rock till 80-talets doom metal. I listan över band som har influerat Blood Ceremony finner man bland annat Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Osanna och Pentagram. Blood Ceremony bildades i Toronto, Ohio och släppte sitt självbetitlade album 2008. De har tidigare turnérat med engelska Electric Wizard och supportat svenska bandet Ghost på deras turné i Europa och USA. Andra plattan ”Living With The Ancients” släpptes 2011 och i maj 2013 kom det tredje studioalbumet ”The Eldritch Dark” som är inspelad och mixad av producenten Ian Blurton och masterad av kanadensiske legenden Nick Blagona. "The Eldritch Dark" en fullängds lovsång till de mörkare hörnen av folklore. Albumet innehåller åtta spår av svart magi, mörka ritualer och rock'n'roll. Spiders Spider från Göteborg mixar garage/proto-punk och tidig hårdrock med bluesiga melodier. 17 Retro Rock and Heavy History Simon Poole Since the past occupies me as if it were the present, and the present seems to me infinitely far away, for these reasons I cannot separate the future from the past as sharply as is usually done. (Hesse cited in Lachman, 2009, p. 126) Heavy metal is a progressive genre, with a long, tangential and complex development. This development has been the topic of much critical, aca- demic and fan debate, and yet it is a genre marked by a consistent musical and ideological practice of return and revision. The ‘evolution’ of heavy metal, notable by the growth, fracture and splintering over time into myr- iad subgenres—the multiplicity of successive and concurrent ‘metals’— masks retro-progressive engagements with heavy metal histories, with retrospective fan and musician practices, with its relationships with past classics and canons, failures and fads. Whilst heavy metal has not entirely escaped the perceived cultural, and specifically musical, collapse into per- petual nostalgia, described by Simon Reynolds1 as ‘retro-rock leeching off ancient styles’ (2011, p. 1), the genre’s continuous development and con- sistent and deferential relationship with its own past has meant that it has not succumbed to mere nostalgic pastiche in the way that Reynolds suggests, but continues to investigate, construct, and deconstruct its own pasts and ‘origins’. In this sense, heavy metal’s nostalgias are nostalgias in the name of progress. Our new 7" from MOROS NYX (Epic US Metal from Chicago) is ready since Xmas and 60% of the pressing are sold so far. We have also signed a contract with Moros Nyx to release their Debut Album in 2015 on CD + LP, both in a limited Edition.
