Bowman Field 1700 W 4th St, Williamsport, PA 17701 Saturday evening’s Crosscutter’s baseball game will be at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field, with dinner hosted at Cutter’s Cove. Shuttles from the host hotels and the 5:15 PM Hiawatha River Cruise will bring you to the ballpark, and will make return trips to the host hotels on a 30-minute loop during the game.

Williamsport Regional Airport 700 Airport Rd, Montoursville, PA 17754 Site of the 2019 PPTA Roadeo. Parking at the Roadeo site is not available. A continuous shuttle will run all day between the host hotels and the Roadeo site.

Denise Babbitt - TransNet During her three and a half years as an operator, Denise has enjoyed assisting passengers to the best of her ability. She has received an award for safe driving, and placed third in PPTA’s 2018 Roadeo. She is a proud parent to her dog Xena and cat Jynx. She says, “I like competing in the Roadeo, where I can meet new people and learn about new equipment.” This competition represents a chance for her to see how far she has come from the previous year. “It’s not about winning, but about having fun.”

April Cotter - BeST Transportation April’s favorite part of working in is helping people. She has been an operator for three and a half years, and she has been named Driver of the Year and been awarded for her customer service. She currently operates cutaway vehicles & minivans. April is hard working, dedicated, and loves her job. She loves being able to help people of all ages and types. Her passengers are like her family! April says, “I’m super excited about competing in a Roadeo. Never done it before, heard a lot from my Dad who did them all the time.” She likes to win and enjoys getting more experience.

Sue Defranco - Easton Coach Company Sue drives a paratransit van and has been an operator for five years. Originally from Roseto, PA, she is a dedicated worker who enjoys helping her clients and fellow drivers, and has been awarded Driver of the Month. When she’s not driving paratransit, she’s working for Fire and Rescue.

James Downam - TransNet James is a retired Marine of 21 years, and has been married for 27 years to his wife Karen. They have one son, Christopher, and a new grandson, Jameson. James drives a paratransit cutaway and has been an operator for ten years. He earned PPTA’s Super Award in 2015 for Outstanding Public Transportation Department Employee, and he has been a driver trainer since 2010. He enjoys motorcycle riding and gardening, and his favorite part of working in transit is giving back to those less fortunate than he is. He has competed at national Roadeos four times, and won PPTA’s Roadeo four out of eight years!

James Fouse - Blair Senior Services, Inc. Jim has been an operator for eight years and enjoys helping those older than he is. He describes himself as an average guy, kind of private, who speaks when spoken to. He is honored to have been asked to compete, and will try to do his best. When he’s not driving, you’ll find Jim woodworking and blacksmithing. This is Jim’s first Roadeo!

Dan Kopinski - Luzerne County Transportation Authority Dan has been an operator for a year, and his favorite part of working in transit is driving, being outside all day, and meeting all types of people. He has never competed in a Roadeo, but he enjoys racing & competition. If he does something, he does it to be his best and/or win.

Debra Lee - Blair Senior Services, Inc. Deb has been an operator for 18 years, and has been driving a transit van for one year. She has had many jobs in her 59 years, and says this one is by far the best one! “Such a nice way to spend each day by giving to those who need. Very rewarding knowing I’m helping people get where they’re going.” She loves the interaction with the consumers: they love the service, which makes her loves the job. She is a little nervous to compete, but is determined to give it her best shot and excited to experience the whole thing. This is Deb’s first Roadeo!

Patricia Lohmeyer - SWCT Pat Lohmeyer has been an operator for five years and currently drives a small bus or van. She enjoys riding her motorcycle and spending time with her family. She says, “I have three great kids, four grandkids, and I enjoy the time I get with them and my great boyfriend that supports me in everything I do.” She loves driving and meeting new people, she tries to do her best, and likes to win at things. This is her first Roadeo! 10 Joseph McDaniel - MV Transportation Joe has been an operator for 22 years. His favorite thing about working in transit is his patrons, who he describes as very friendly and appreciative to him. He especially enjoys transporting them to their destinations. He was named Driver of the Year in 2015 and has received numerous awards from SEPTA. He likes to compete because it challenges him to become a better driver, and he is motivated by the overwhelming support that he receives from staff and faculty from MV, patrons, and friends; he wants to do his best for them. This is Joe’s fourth PPTA Roadeo!

Lisa Riley - Suburban Transit / Tri County Lisa has been an operator for just over a year, and enjoys making a difference in peoples lives. She feels very honored to be a part of the Roadeo and to show what drivers can do. She loves to help people, and appreciates when they remember her, saying it “makes me feel like I have made an impression on them and made them feel wanted in their lives.” This is Lisa’s first Roadeo!

William Sanner - GO Westmoreland Bill Sanner, of Greensburg, PA, has been an operator for four months. His favorite part of working in transit is meeting new and interesting customers. When he’s not driving for GO Westmoreland, you might find him enjoying his favorite hobby: playing poker. This is Bill’s first Roadeo!

Sarah Sopher - GO Westmoreland Sarah has been an operator for one year. She is 29 years old, and is excited to participate in her first Roadeo! “Being able to represent our company and making transit proud motivates me!” She loves being able to help people, and enjoys playing with her four-year-old daughter.

Carrie Sue Taylor - Susquehanna Wyoming County Transport Sue Taylor has been an operator for two and a half years and is competing in her first Roadeo. She says, “I usually stick to myself and do the best I can when driving out on the road. Every day is an interesting experience. One never knows what obstacles are out there from day to day.” She likes meeting the people she drives, and has made a lot of friends in this business.

Kelly Michael Thompson - BeST Transportation After six years as an operator, Kelly “Budda” Thompson is competing in her first Roadeo! She says, “I really love my job and to compete against others is exciting. I’m a very competitive person so this should be fun.” She enjoys driving and helping her elderly passengers, especially veterans like herself.

Sean Tompkins - County of Lackawanna Transit System Sean “#1” Tompkins is competing in his sixth PPTA Roadeo this year, after taking third place in 2017 and first place in 2018. He has been an operator for twenty years and once received a heroism award for saving a boy’s life on the job. He loves the ability to give back to his community and help those who have no means to get to appointments in a safe way, he loves to compete and show off the skills he’s acquired over his operator career, and he just loves to drive!

Ray VanGuilder - Crawford Area Transportation Authority Ray is competing in his second PPTA Roadeo, and has been an operator for six years. He was named CATA’s Employee of the Year in 2015, and his favorite thing about working in transit is meeting a lot of interesting people. He likes woodworking and Harleys and spending time with family and friends. He is motivated by the challenge to get better at each Roadeo.

Megan Warunek - Luzerne County Transportation Authority Megan has been an operator for over five years, and is competing in her first Roadeo. She enjoys working in transit because she likes helping people in her community, seeing the different seasons, and not doing the same thing every day.

Melvin Watson - Capital Area Transit Melvin has been an operator for two years, and describes himself as a very relaxed, laid back guy who is very excited to be in his first Roadeo to show off his impressive driving skills. His favorite part of working in transit is being able to help elderly and disabled passengers. 11 2019 Fixed Route Contestants

Joe Beach - AMTRAN Joe has been an operator for two years. He describes himself as strong minded, motivated, and compassionate about his job and life. He enjoys pushing himself to be better, and is competitive just for the fun of it. He enjoys camping, being outdoors, and being with friends & family. Joe finished in third place at PPTA’s 2018 Roadeo, and he has also competed at the national level. “Let’s Go AMTRAN!!”

Joe Brown - River Valley Transit Joe currently operates a Gillig and has been an operator for two years. He enjoys bike riding and restoring his Camaro. He was in RVT’s Top Ten in Driver of the Year standings. This is Joe’s first Roadeo!

Ricardo Cancel - rabbittransit Ricardo has been a professional driver for 32 years and with rabbittransit for nine years. His favorite part of working in transit is connecting with people and taking them from Point A to B safely. Ricardo says, “love to back and get to see other fellow drivers from other transit authorities. Good luck to all of you.” This is Ricardo’s seventh PPTA Roadeo.

Greg Czyzyk - County of Lackawanna Transit System Greg has been a bus operator for ten years and drives the Gillig 35ft. This will be his second Roadeo. Greg says, “I have a beautiful wife, Chrissy, and 4 awesome children. I am excited for the opportunity to be competing in this Roadeo and using my driving skills to the best of my ability. My most memorable experience on the bus is when I met my extremely beautiful wife on the bus. I enjoy working for COLTS and my co-workers. This job gives me a lot of satisfaction.”

Jose DeJesus - Lehigh/Northampton Transportation Authority Jose normally operates 35- and 40-foot and has been an operator for over five years. He is honored to have been chosen to participate in the Roadeo. He says, “I enjoy driving and have expanded my driving skills in many ways and have been complimented by passengers many times.” He enjoys working in transit because he likes working with the public.

Rex Fleming - Centre Area Transportation Authority Rex “T-Rex” Fleming has been an operator for twenty years and currently operates a 40-foot bus. His favorite part of working in transit is meeting new people, and he’s competing in his fourth Roadeo for the enjoyment and challenge of it. When he’s not driving, he loves to golf.

Scott Gardner - Capital Area Transit Scott drives a Gillig and has been an operator for 15 years. He enjoys meeting all his passengers and getting them where they need to go. Scott says, “I am really excited for this opportunity. The Roadeo is something I have heard about for a long time. I have always been interested in competing and this is my first chance to do so. I really enjoy testing my skills as a bus driver. I can’t wait to do so against some of the best drivers.” When he’s not driving, Scott enjoys making things out of paracord, cross stitching, and spending time with his beehives.

Jamie Gilbert - River Valley Transit Jamie has been an operator for four years and enjoys driving and helping people get to where they need to go. He has received Safe Driving Awards from the National Safety Council and has been named on of RVT’s Top Ten Drivers of the Year. When he’s not operating a Gillig, you’ll find him watching hockey with is family. This is Jamie’s third PPTA Roadeo!

12 Joe Granahan - Luzerne County Transportation Authority Joe typically operates a Gillig and has been an operator for 8 years. He loves the chance to compete among his peers and to represent his company, and he enjoys dealing with and helping passengers with their everyday challenges. When he’s not driving, he enjoys hunting and fishing. This is Joe’s fourth PPTA Roadeo!

Drew Holton - AMTRAN Originally from Millport, NY, Drew has been an operator for five and a half years. He loves to drive (usually in a CNG) and enjoys training new drivers. Drew says, “This is my first Roadeo and I’m excited about being here. Hoping to look like I belong here. My goal is to push Joe Beach (AMTRAN’s other driver) to be better.”

Stan Karge - Luzerne County Transportation Authority Stan “Zippy” Karge has been an operator for eleven years, and is competing in his fourth PPTA Roadeo. His favorite part of working in transit is being able to communicate, interact with, and help the passengers. He enjoys interacting with other people within his profession, and is grateful to be given the opportunity to represent his company and to compete against his peers.

Sean Kiper - River Valley Transit Sean has enjoyed working with the public as an operator for the past five and a half years. He says, “I enjoy competing in the Roadeos, meeting drivers from other areas, and listening to their stories.” He is very competitive! He won PPTA’s 2017 Roadeo, and earned ninth place in the International Roadeo in Tampa, FL in 2018. He’s also earned National Safety Council Safe Driving Awards, and was one of RVT’s Top 10 Drivers of the Year. Sean’s hobbies include hiking, biking, and brewing beer.

Randall Norris - rabbittransit Randy has been an operator for 39 years and typically drives a Gillig 30’ bus. He has participated in two national Roadeos, and numerous PPTA Roadeos. He’s received driver of the year awards, safety awards, and a perfect attendance award. Randy’s favorite part of working in transit is driving and meeting different people, and his favorite hobby is driving!

Tim Prisk - Centre Area Transportation Authority Tim has been an operator for two years. He has never competed in a Roadeo, but he’s looking forward to meeting other transit drivers, listening to their stories, and learning anything they may have learned about driving. Tim’s favorite part of working in transit is the opportunity to see something new on an almost daily basis.

Zain Rabbani - County of Lackawanna Transit System Zain “Zee Man” Rabbani has been an operator for six years and currently operates a Gillig Low Floor bus. His favorite part of working in transit is meeting new people and staying in touch with the community. This is his first Roadeo! Zain says, “a fair competition where one can test their skills while being with family and friends is a definition of quality time. Winning or losing the competition does not matter as long as I give 100% and have a memorable experience. Love my job, love the people I work with, will try to win for them!”

Kim Rearick - Centre Area Transportation Authority Kim has been an operator for ten years and currently operates a 40-foot bus. Her favorite part of working in transit is customer service, meeting people, and helping people. Kim says, “It’s my first Roadeo so I’m excited and nervous. I believe it will be a great learning experience. I’m a happy, friendly person and driver.”

John Rinylo - SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) Zenon “John” Rinylo has been an operator for 41 years and typically operates a 40-foot bus. He has earned awards for safe driving and customer service, and numerous Roadeo championships, winning 25 SEPTA Roadeos, 17 PPTA Roadeos, 2 APTA International Roadeos, and 3 APTA Grand Champion Awards. He likes working in transit because every day is different and he gets to meet lots of people.

Victor Tarver - SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) Vic Tarver has been an operator for 36 years and currently operates a New Flyer bus. This is his 17th PPTA Roadeo, and he has competed twice on the national level. His favorite part of working in transit is meeting new people daily. He has received several safety awards, and he loves the competition demonstrated in each Roadeo.

Andre Waters - Luzerne County Transportation Authority Andre has been an operator for two years and currently operates a Gillig transit bus. His favorite part of working in transit is meeting new people and interacting with passengers every day. He is grateful to have the chance to represent his company and compete with other drivers. This is his third PPTA Roadeo!

Luke Wolfram - Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority Luke has been an operator for 23 years and this is his first Roadeo. His favorite part of working in transit is trying to make people smile! Luke says, “I’m a US Vet (USN Submarine Service), a father of three and a grandfather of four. I love driving the bus and the challenges it brings me which alone has prepared me for the Roadeo!”
