Chambers & Chambers Partners with Jorge Ordã³ã CHAMBERS & CHAMBERS PARTNERS WITH JORGE ORDóñEZ SELECTIONS April 19, 2021 Napa, CA - Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants, importer & distributor of fine wines, spirits & sake since 1973, is delighted to announce their new exclusive California and Hawaii distributor partnership for Jorge Ordóñez Selections starting May 1, 2021. Chambers & Chambers Hawaii previously represented Jorge Ordóñez Selections, and the company is thrilled to welcome them back to Hawaii and launch a new partnership in California. Together with Chambers & Chambers established Spanish collection of exceptional quality wineries represented by Olé & Obrigado, the company is proud to provide an unparalleled portfolio of family-owned, authentic producers from Spain. “It is an exciting time with accounts opening up and tremendous opportunity to broaden our horizons!” said Suzanne Chambers, President of Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants. Jorge Ordóñez Selections has been a trailblazer in the US Spanish wine business for the last 34 years and is responsible for introducing many of Spain’s most important appellations and indigenous varieties to the U.S. market and pioneering the creation of those categories. By working with exclusively family owned and operated fine winegrowing estate who work with old vineyards of the oldest clones of Spain’s indigenous grape varieties, Ordóñez has fought against the trend of replantation and modernization in Spanish viticulture and has always been a fierce advocate for quality at every step of the winegrowing process. This obsession with quality pushed him to lead the charge towards proper wine handling and shipping, under the philosophy that consumers have the right to enjoy wine the way it was bottled. To that end, Ordóñez became the first importer to insist on refrigeration throughout the entire shipping process and is one of the few portfolios from Spain to work exclusively with refrigerated containers and consolidation warehouses. Since 2004, Ordóñez has also owned and operated five independent fine wine estates in Málaga, Rías Baixas, Calatayud, Toro, Rueda, and Valdeorras. Jorge has been named twice as one of the Top 20 Wine Personalities of the Year by Robert Parker, who also named him one of the most influential wine personalities of the last 20 years. Jorge has also been awarded the Premio Nacional de Gastronomía by the Real Academia de Gastronomia of Spain, a prize shared by some of Spain’s top chefs and sommeliers. “We are very excited and proud to be partnering with Chambers & Chambers, a company whose prestige and reputation in the market speaks for itself. Furthermore, as a multigenerational family business representing a portfolio of over 25 family-owned fine wine estates from Spain, we value the opportunity to be represented by one of the California wine industry’s most prestigious family-owned companies.” said Jorge Ordóñez, President and Founder of Jorge Ordóñez Selections. Abstract In this article we analyze the origins of the Galician traditions and practices of healing and fertility around the sacred oak and compare them with similar practices in the Celtic countries. a conversión al cristianismo de muchas tradiciones y creencias ancestrales fue un proceso de larga duración, cuyo estudio nos permite adentrarnos en la interpretación que hacían los celtas de sus seres divinos y de la forma en que los propiciaban en L 1 los diferentes países en los que convivieron con otras culturas.

  • Vintage Report for Spain 2016
Vintage report for Spain 2016 An unpredictable year featuring one of the driest and longest summers for some time The weather conditions were both unpredictable and challenging in 2016 keeping everyone on their toes throughout the Spanish wine regions. Generous spring rains and favourable weather during the early stages of vine development led to initial hopes of a generous crop for most regions with the exceptions of some Atlantic areas and the coastal fringes of Jerez. By the end of July, with a hot, dry summer well under way, the outlook was rosy but the hot summer went on and on, seemingly endlessly, causing vines to shut down. By early September there was still no sign of cooler temperatures or a drop of rain - quite unlike a typical year. Finally there was a break in the weather with modest rainfall in mid-September, which was particularly beneficial for later-ripening and red varieties. Fine weather continued throughout the autumn allowing the harvest to progress steadily and calmly across the country. Some regions fared far better than others in 2016. The outcome was more positive for Rioja, Navarra, Ribera del Duero, Toro, Priorat, Montsant, Rueda and Rías Baixas than it was for some of the Catalan DOs where the drought and other unfavourable weather had a serious impact on yields, especially where whites are the focus. Total 2016 harvest for Spain: 42.5 million hl (Source: OEMV) Wines From Spain Page 1 This report of Spain’s 2016 harvest is divided into the following regional sections: 1. Galicia: Rías Baixas, Monterrei, Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras 2.

For more information, please contact [email protected]. 1 Thesis Summary The Spanish wine scene is incredibly diverse, and an immense number of different wines are made in the country. Likewise, Spain is incredibly rich in culture, with a wide array of languages, histories, cultures, and cuisines found throughout the nation. The sheer number and variety of Spanish wines and the incredible variety of cultures found in Spain may be daunting to the uninitiated. Thus, a guide to Spanish wine and culture, which not only details the two but links them, as well, may prove very helpful to the Spanish wine newcomer or perhaps even a sommelier. This thesis-guide was compiled through the research of the various Denominaciones de Origen of Spain, the history of Spain, the regions of Spain and their individual histories and cultures, and, of course, the many, many wines of Spain.
