FOR SALE HAITIAN PRESIDENTIAL GROUPING

The personal group of General Paul Eugene Magloire, President of the Republic of Haiti from 1950 to 1956, when he was exiled. The grouping includes the book "Les Decorations Haitiennes, A Travers L’Histoire", by Major Francis E. Etienne. This is a numbered, large- format, color book of Haitian and from the 1700’s to approximately 1954. Magloire is prominently featured in the book. This volume has a long personal inscription from the author to Cardinal Spellman dated 1956.

Also included are Magloire’s official state -- one for civil affairs and one for military. The sashes are silk, 88 inches long and 5 inches wide, ~ith heavy tassels and knots. The civil is worn over the shoulder and across the chest. It is crimson and blue with a vertical Haitian national crest in gold embroidery. The military sash is crimson and grey and worn around the waist. It is decorated with the same crest embroidered for horizontal wear. The group also includes: an 8x10 inch black and white photograph of Magloire wearing the military sash; the book "Written in Blood: The Story of the Haitian People, 1492-1971 ", published in 1978, which fully documents Magloire’s term; the book "Hayti The Black Republic", published in 1889; another recent history of Haiti, two original period cards of 24 silver and 24 gold Haitian military buttons, with original tissue; and several recent articles on current developments in Haiti.
