DAY 6: Ankarana Breakfast. Visit to Ankarana National Park with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Ankarana Lodge.

The National Park of Ankarana, on the other end is easily accessible as it is situated along the main road towards and . As such, it is quite unavoidable but is still certainly worth a stop. Indeed, this park of dry forest is not only attractive because of the species of flora and fauna such as the crowned lemur or the ‘’Ibis de foret’’ which can hardly be found elsewhere but also because of its caves imbued with history and its Tsingy’s which are much alike the Tsingy of Bemaraha in the west of Madagascar except for their smaller size. (The Tsingy is a mass of limestone cut with sharp crest of a unique form). Ankarana also harbours ancient customs and traditions still cherished by its people. It has to be noted that because of the large surface of the National Park of Ankarana (18.000 acres), it has two entrances: the first one is on the east. Easily accessible, it opens on mini tours representative of the whole park and can be visited in around a half-day. The second entrance is in the west and is rather difficult of access in the rainy season. It offers a variety of tours that can be completed in one or two days.
