This school’s infrastructure and those of the surrounding communities were severely weakened by the April 2014 earthquake which affected Chile and Peru.     CI-18/COUNCIL-31/6/REV 2 2018 DG Report on the Safety of Journalists and the Danger of Impunity INTRODUCTION This report is submitted to the Intergovernmental Council of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) in line with the Decision on the Safety of Journalists and the issue of Impunity adopted by the Council at its 26th session on 27 March 2008, and renewed at subsequent sessions in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. In its latest Decision, adopted in November 2016, the IPDC Council urged Member States to “continue to inform the Director-General of UNESCO, on a voluntary basis, on the status of the judicial inquiries conducted on each of the killings condemned by the Director-General”. The present report provides an analysis of the cases of killings of journalists and associated media personnel that were condemned by the Director-General in 2016 and 2017. It also takes stock of the status of judicial enquiries conducted on each of the killings recorded by UNESCO between 2006 and 2017, based on information provided by Member States. Coffin All Rights Reserved May 2016 i Abstract Japanese Americans living in west coast states had been a marginalized group long before the attack against Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941 by the Empire of Japan, which accelerated the maelstrom of hysteria and hatred against them. As a result, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, authorizing Secretary of War Stimson and designated military commanders to prescribe military areas from which any or all persons could be excluded. United States military leaders identified all Japanese Americans in the western portions of Washington, Oregon, and California as potential subversive persons that might rise up and sabotage the United States from within its borders. Over 110,000 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed from their homes and transported to one of ten incarceration camps until their loyalty to the United States could be determined. Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9102 established the War Relocation Authority on March 18, 1942. This civilian agency provided for the shelter, nutrition, education, and medical care of the excluded Japanese Americans as they waited to be redistributed within the interior and eastern United States. She knows she is the worthy heir to her father’s art so now it is no longer Estrella Morente in concert but Morente in Concert. Her voice, difficult to classify, has the gift of deifying any musical register she proposes. Although strongly influenced by her father’s art, Estrella likes to include her own things: fados, coplas, sevillanas, blues, jazz… ESTRELLA can’t be described described with words. Looking at her, listening to her and feeling her is the only way to experience her art in an intimate way. Her voice vibrates between the ethereal and the earthly like a presence that mutates between reality and the beyond. All those who have the chance to spend a while in her company will never forget it for they know they have been part of an inexplicable phenomenon. Tonight she offers us the best of her art. From the subtle simplicity of the festive songs of her childhood to the depths of a yearned-for love. The full panorama of feelings, the entire range of sensations and colours – all the experiences of the woman of today, as well as the woman of long ago, are found in Estrella’s voice.

El Hadj Omar, de son vrai nom Omar Saidou Tall, est né entre 1794 et 1797 à Alwar, près de Guédé dans le département de Podor. Son père se nommait Saidou, fils de Uthman, fils de Makhtar, fils d' Ahmad Samba de la grande famille des Tall. Il était le quatrième fils de son père et le huitième de sa mère. Celle-ci avait pour nom Sokhna Adama. Omar Saidou Tall appartient à la précieuse lignée des Tooroodo et à ce titre s'initia très tôt à la culture coranique. L'ethnie à laquelle appartenait Omar Saidou Tall avait adhéré depuis 1776 à la confrérie des Qadriyas. Il reçoit de sa famille une instruction religieuse solide et apprend l'arabe. Il complète sa formation par des voyages auprès des Maures de la confrérie des Qadriya au Tagant et à Walata. A 23 ans, El Hadj Omar entreprend le pélerinage à la Mecque. Le voyage dure treize ans. Il se déplace ainsi entre le Caire, la Mecque, Médine et Jérusalem. Il séjourne quelques années à Médine, ce qui lui permet d'approfondir ses connaissances du Coran, de la culture coranique et de l'arabe. Pendant son séjour dans les lieux saints de l'islam, El Hadj Omar fait la connaissance du khalife Cheikh Muhammad Al Ghali, disciple d'Ahmad Al Tidjani, qui va exercer sur lui une influence déterminante.
