REPORT ON NATIONAL SCHOOL GAMES PARTICIPATION-YEAR 2019-20

1. Introduction: The School Games Federation of organizes competitions of various sports disciplines for school boys and girls at the national level. For a student player, opportunity to participate at National School Games representing a state can be considered asa big achievement. Altogether there are 44 States, Union Territories and other organization as affiliated units of School Games Federation of India. Sikkim state is also one of a unit of School Games Federation of India. However, we were not been able to participate in the SGFI National Competitions since many years due to non-organization of Annual School Competitions. After a long gap of 12 Years with the direction of the State Government of Sikkim, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs organized ANNUAL SCHOOL SPORTS COMPETITIONS 2019-20 for under 17 years Boys & Girls student players at Block, District & State Level in eight sports disciplines i.e. Athletics, Archery, , , Football, Karate, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, from 16th October 2019 to 16th November 2019. 2. National Participation: The winners and selected players from Annual School State Level Competitions 2019-20 were sent to participate in 65th National School Games 2019-20 organized by School Game Federation of India (SGFI) in different state venues of National Competitions. All together 208 (boys and girls, including officials) in 10 sports disciplines viz; Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Football, Karate, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, and and (2) two Mountain Bikers participated in National Level Competitions. 3. Achievement: i. ii. Football U-17 Boys- Silver Medals. The Football U-17 Boys Team at Agartala Tripura won the Runner-Up Trophies . iii. Highest Scorer of the tournament. Master OngdaLepcha of our Team won Highest Scorer of the tournament- 10 Goals iv. Following Girls Footballer are selected for India Team Camp for FIFA U-17 World Cup: i. Ms. Shri Devi Subba ii. Ms. Laxmi Thatal iii. Ms. MuskanSubba

Participation at Youth Games 2020: The Medal winners at National School Games and up to 6th Position are qualified to participate in the KHELO INDIA YOUTH GAMES 2020 which was held at from 9th - 22nd January 2020. The Following are the National players directly selected through merit basis in the KHELO INDIA YOUTH GAMES 2020: 1. Miss Ganga Biswakarma Boxing 48 KG through SGFI. 2. Master Krishn Kailash Rai – Boxing 49 KG through BFI. The KHELO INDIA YOUTH GAMES 2020 is the highest level of tournament of India organized by GTCC “Games Technical Conduct Committee” (SAI + SGFI + Indian Sports Federation) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India. The Tournament will be conducted at par to INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS standard.
