ORGANISATION Secretariat The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports functions under the overall guidance of the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth & Sports during the year. In April, 2008, two separate Departments, namely, Department of Youth Affairs and Department of Sports, were created under the Ministry, each Department under the charge of a Secretary to the Government of India. There were 2 Joint Secretaries in the Ministry as on 31.12.2019. One Joint Secretary looks after the work of Department of Youth Affairs and 2 Joint Secretaries look after the work of Department of Sports. The matters relating to Accounts & Audit are under the charge of an Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser. The sanctioned strength of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, as on 31.12.2019, was 229, comprising 44 Group ‘A’ posts, 81 Group ‘B’ posts (34 Gazetted and 47 Non-Gazetted), 47 Group ‘C’ posts.
