In April, 2008, two separate Departments, namely, Department of Youth Affairs and Department of Sports, were created under the Ministry, each Department under the charge of a Secretary to the Government of India. There were 2 Joint Secretaries in the Ministry as on 31.03.2019. One Joint Secretary looks after the work of Department of Youth Affairs and 1 Joint Secretary look after the work of Department of Sports. The matters relating to Accounts & Audit are under the charge of an Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser. The sanctioned strength of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, as on 31.03.2019, was 232, comprising 49 Group ‘A’ posts, 105 Group ‘B’ posts (44 Gazetted and 61 Non-Gazetted), 78 Group ‘C’ posts.
