An annotated list of 27 species of bumble bees [Tkalcù, 1967; Panfilov, 1982, 1984; Byvaltsev, 2011; collected in Republic of Tyva (Tuva) in 2013 is given. Decline in the populations of bumble bees and other pollinators stress the need for more knowledge about their conservation status. Only one of the 25 bumble bee species present in Hungary is included in the Hungarian Red List. We estimated the endangerment of the Hungarian bumble bee (Bombus Latr.) species using the available occurrence data from the last 50 years of the 20th century. Four of the 25 species were data deficient or extinct from Hungary. About 60% of species were considered rare or moderately rare. Changes in distribution and occurrence frequency indicated that 10 of the 21 native species showed a declining trend, while only three species in- creased in frequency of occurrence. According to the IUCN Red List categories, seven species (33% of the native fauna) should be labelled as critically endangered (CR) and 3 (14%) as endangered (EN). Our results stress an urgent need of protection plans for bumble bees in Hungary, and further underlines the validity of concern over bumble bees all over Europe. -

Uppsala, Sweden 2007. ISSN 0013-886x. Sweden with Carl von Linné is the cradle of Systematics and therefore also the origin of a disproportionate part of the taxonomic type material. Bees are no exception. This report is the first part of an examination, including taxonomic revision, of the actual, re- puted or potential bee type material of Swedish origin. Focus is on the status, type locality, present condition, depository and history. Here, a total of 20 original specific taxa have been studied. Lectotypes are designated for 13 whereby it is stated that seven epithets are valid (bold), viz. Andrena cincta Nylander 1848, A. clypearis Nylander 1848, A. subopaca Nylander 1848, Coelioxys temporalis Nylander 1848, Colletes suecica Aurivillius 1903, Halictus sexnotatulus Nylander 1852, Heriades breviuscula Nylander 1848, Kirbya mel- anura Nylander 1852, Megachile apicalis Nylander 1848 which replacement name Mega- chile analis Nylander 1852 has the same type, Nomada cincticornis 1848, N. obtusifrons Nylander 1848, Prosopis armillata Nylander 1848 and Rhophites halictulus Nylander 1852. Especially, Kirbya melanura is found to be a senior synonym of Cilissa wankowiczi Radoszkowski 1891. The valid name of the species is Melitta melanura (Nylander) and its type locality the island of Gotland in the Baltic. L. We start this year having seen From the Editor 1 enormously encouraging progress in 2013. Our different regions have started from BBSG Executive Committee 2 very different positions, in terms of established knowledge of their bee faunas Regional Coordinators 2 as well as in terms of resources available, but members in all regions are actively moving forward. In Europe and North America, which have been fortunate to Bumblebee Specialist have the most specialists over the last century, we are achieving the first species Group Report 2013 3 assessments. Insects and Plants in the Pollination Ecology of the Boreal Zone

Marx Pr. 24, Magadan, 685000 Russia Pollination systems in the boreal zone range from generalist to specialist, both entomologically and botanically. The relative importance of wind pollination, insect pollination, sexual separation between and within plants, and between flowers, hermaphroditism of flowers, and various breeding systems are related to plant growth form and habitat. The diversity and specializations of anthophilous insects parallel those in other bioge0graphic zones, but seem less developed. We suggest that this reflects the combined effects of evolutionary youth, severity of climate, restriction of symbiont ranges within those of their hosts, and the naturally frequent perturbations by fire or insect outbreaks in the zone, requiring faunal and floral vagility and constraining specialization in mutualism. Modern perturbations by logging and pesticides seem to be well buffered because of the relative openness of the ecosystem (compared to others), although damage has been documented. Insect pollination is as much a keystone process in the boreal forest as elsewhere, despite the immediate counter-impression given by the dominance ofwind-pollinated conifers. Nevertheless, there are few studies, botanical or entomological in situ. The boreal system offers important opportunities in general and applied research in pollination ecology and synecology generally. Key words: anthecology; boreal; floral biology; pollinators; taiga. It was discovered that 11 species distributed over 8 subgenera of the family Apidae under subfamily Apinae, tribe Bombini Sakhawat Ali occurring in this region. The subgenera, Alpigenobombus, Bombus and Melanobombus were represented Department of Entomology, by two species namely Bombus breviceps Smith, Bombus kashmirensis Friese; Bombus lucorum subsp Sindh Agriculture University jocobsoni (Skorikov), Bombus s. str. tunicatus Smith; Bombus rufofasciatus Smith, Bombus Tando jam, Pakistan semenovianus (Skorikov) respectively. First National Conference on Zoology Biodiversity in a Changing World 28-30 November 2020 Abstracts Organized By Supported By: Foreword It is our pleasure to welcome you to the First National Conference on Zoology: Biodiversity in a Changing World on November 28–30, 2020 on a virtual platform. This conference is organized by the Central Department of Zoology and its Alumni on the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the Department. This conference is supported by the IUCN Nepal, National Trust for Nature Conservation, WWF Nepal and Zoological Society of London Nepal office. The Central Department of Zoology envisioned three important strategies; teaching, research and extension of its strategic plan 2019 – 2023. The First National Conference is one of the most important extension activities of the Department in collaboration with leading conservation organizations of the country. We believe extension activities including national conference will help to mainstream zoology and make priority agenda of the government for research, faunal conservation, national development and employment. The main theme of the conference is “Biodiversity in a Changing World”, which is of utmost importance given global changes that species, ecosystem processes, landscapes and also people currently have to face together. Excessive exploitation of biological resources as well as global changes and the degradation of the natural environment have large-scale effects, some of which directly lead to the extinction of species and impacts on the health of people. The Conference provides us with the opportunity to meet, connect and learn from each other, share latest research results, and eventually envisage feasible means of conciliating human development and protect health of ecosystem and people with biodiversity conservation. -

These exists large knowledge base on fauna of Nepal. Initially, foreign scientist and researchers began explored faunal biodiversity of Nepal and thus significantly contributed knowledge base. But over the decades, many Nepali scientists and students have heavily researched on the faunal resources of Nepal. Collaboration and interaction between foreign researchers and Nepali researchers and students are important step for further research and conservation of Nepali fauna. -

INTRODUCTION 1. The present report is presented in response to decision XIII/15, paragraph 11, in which the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity requested the Executive Secretary, subject to the availability of resources, in partnership with relevant organizations and indigenous peoples and local communities, to compile and summarize information on pollinators and pollination relevant to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in all ecosystems, beyond their role in agriculture and food production for consideration by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice at a meeting held prior to the fourteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties. 2. The Assessment on Pollinators, Pollination and Food Production1 of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) used literature available until July 2015. Since this point in time, a considerable amount of new literature has been made available. A workshop convened from 27-29 November 2017 in collaboration with IPBES, the University of Reading, and the Convention on Biological Diversity brought together regional experts on pollinators to discuss and assess the role of pollinators and pollination services in supporting ecosystems beyond agricultural systems and in supporting ecosystem services beyond food production. -
Oligolectic Bee Species in Northern Europe (Hymenoptera, Apoidea)

Fennica 8: 205-214. Evolution of flower specialization in bees, the concepts of poly-, oligo- and monolecty are reviewed. About 60 species recorded in the area of Finland and Sweden are regarded as oligolectic. The proportions of oligoleges among all pollen-collecting bee species are about 30 percent in a large area of central and Northern Europe. The proportion is about 15 percent in the northern boreal area of Finland and Sweden, where the percentage ofpolylectic bumblebees is much greater than in more southern areas. Of the solitary bee species recorded in Finland and Sweden, 25 are regarded as narrow oligoleges, of which 6 species collect pollen from Campanula and 5 from Salix. Eusocial Bombus consobrinus is regarded as a facultative narrow oligo lege of Aconitum septen trionale and, apparently, this bee species is the only oligolege in northern Europe, whose distribution completely covers that of the pollen plant. The distribution limits of some narrow oligoleges (e.g. Eucera longicornis and Andrena hattorfiana) approximately follow certain frequencies of their prin cipal pollen plants (Lathyrus pratensis and Knautia, respectively). Of the oligolectic bee species in Finland, 32 occur on the lists of threatened species of England, southwestern Germany or Poland. Records of E. longicornis and A. hattorfiana from various periods are given as examples of the decline of oligolectic bees in Finland during recent decades.
