The New Futures Fund provides scholarship support to students by removing the financial barrier for talented students wishing to study at LSE.

The fund offers awards and “top ups” to students who receive funding that does not fully cover the cost of their studies or who are studying programmes that are not supported through School or philanthropic scholarships. The fund also provides support for degree programmes that include elements which incur additional costs such as the opportunity to study at a partner institution abroad. This year support has been given to students who found themselves with a late crisis in funding, which was caused by illness or death in the family or the abrupt withdrawal of promised financial support.

The ability to respond to the needs of students flexibly through the use of this fund has enhanced the School’s reputation as a leader Awards breakdown amongst UK universities in providing direct financial support. RECOGNISING

Our Donors The LSE Annual Fund holds a number of events every year to recognise and thank our donors. Over the past year we have held two leadership giving events that recognise those who give at Director’s Circle and Chairman’s Circle level to the Annual Fund. In recognition of the importance of all gifts, this year for the first time, we will be hosting an event to which all donors to the Annual Fund will be invited.

We also thank our supporters in a number of exchanging stories from their time at the other ways: this year we sent all new donors School and discussing world affairs. to our gift clubs a badge recognising their support, as well as sending a series of other Director’s Circle Reception communications throughout the year that On Monday 9 May 2011, Director’s Circle inform donors about events at the School donors were invited to a lecture and drinks and update them on LSE news. reception hosted by Professor , LSE Director. This year the fund has received great support from leaders within the School and leaders from our alumni community. All members of the Alumni Association Executive Committee made a gift to the Annual Fund, the number of Alumni Group Leaders supporting the Annual Fund trebled, and our support from School Governors increased to 54 per cent. The support of the School and alumni leadership communities sends a powerful message about the work that the Annual Fund does and the important impact that this has at the School.
