Summer road trips can provide rich opportunities to encounter the Catholic heritage all around you. St. Mary’s in High Hill is known as the Queen of the Painted Churches of Texas due to its ornate design, painting and windows. The current church was built in 1906 using windows from the 1876 church, and painted in 1912.
