Goldenslumbers a Father's Lullaby golden Slumbers a father’s lullaby Golden Slumbers is probably one of the most gratifying projects I’ve ever been a part of. I meet families all the time that used this CD for their kids’ bedtime ritual—and the one thing I hear consistently, is that once the disc went into the CD player in a child’s room, it never came out! That this music has been such a personal and integral part of so many kids’ early lives is amazingly humbling—I’m thrilled it’s getting a re-release for a whole new generation of parents and kids to discover. ~ Dave Koz This is a real sleeper of an album, literally. Smooth-jazz musicians—including Peter White, Dave Koz, Norman Brown, David Benoit, and others—play music here to put babies to sleep. Fans of New Age music, specifically what came out of the Pacific Northwest in the ‘80s, may find many of these 14 tracks reminiscent of that period. Long-time listeners of smooth-jazz radio may be reminded of the kind of ethereal, spacey music that was played in the early days of the format. Many of the songs are as obvious as Brian Culbertson‘s somnambulating “Brahms’ Lullaby” and Koz’s “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” but some are inspired choices with creative arrangements and 01. Blackbird feat. Dave Koz, Jeff Koz strong performances. Koz and his brother Jeff shine on the Beatles‘ title tune and the other 02. Isn’t She Lovely feat. John Stoddart Lennon/McCartney chestnut, “Blackbird.” Brown’s take on James Taylor‘s “You Can Close Your 03. Charlotte’s Song feat. Peter White Eyes” is also moving, while not straying from the stillness of the concept. Perhaps the standout 04. Brahms’ Lullaby feat. Brian Culbertson track is the superb performance of vocalist John Stoddart on Stevie Wonder‘s “Isn’t She Lovely.” 05. You’ll Be In My Heart (Kala’s Lullaby) ~ Mark Ruffin (Real Jazz, Sirius/XM) feat. • A Peter White Christmas with Rick Braun and Mindi Abair Brings the Sounds of the Season to Parker Playhouse
November 20, 2015 Media Contact: Savannah Whaley Pierson Grant Public Relations 954-776-1999 ext. 225 Jan Goodheart, Broward Center 954-765-5814 A PETER WHITE CHRISTMAS WITH RICK BRAUN AND MINDI ABAIR BRINGS THE SOUNDS OF THE SEASON TO PARKER PLAYHOUSE FORT LAUDERDALE – Celebrate the holidays with A Peter White Christmas with Rick Braun and Mindi Abair at Parker Playhouse on Saturday, December 12 at 8 p.m. One of the most versatile and prolific acoustic guitarists, White leads the contemporary jazz lineup in this seasonal concert combining smooth jazz cheer with traditional Christmas classics such as “White Christmas” and “Silent Night,” plus a few surprises along the way. White launched his career as a keyboardist touring with Al Stewart and worked with him in the studio on the classic album Year of the Cat. The tour and that album marked the beginning of a 20-year association with Stewart. During that time, the two musicians co-wrote numerous songs, including Stewart’s 1978 hit, “Time Passages.” After years as a backup musician and a session player, White launched his solo recording career and his annual Christmas tour is fueled by the success of his two highly regarded holiday albums, Songs of the Season (1997) and A Peter White Christmas (2007). Braun adds his stylistically eclectic trumpeting to the mix. A consistent chart-topper who has amassed a catalogue of #1 Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart and radio hits throughout his solo career, Braun has also produced #1 hits for David Benoit, Marc Antoine and former Rod Stewart band sidekick Jeff Golub.

  • Peter White STARLUX Album Press Release December 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Guitarist Peter White Releases ‘Music for STARLUX Airlines’ White releases album ahead of STARLUX Airlines launch DECEMBER 5, 2019 - Although he has never had a guitar lesson in his life, Peter White has become known as one of the jazz industry’s greatest icons. For over forty years, he has worked with many music greats, recorded eighteen solo and collaboration albums, performed before countless audiences, and most recently, created a special collection of songs for STARLUX Airlines. STARLUX Airlines is a new, luxury airline based in Taiwan. Official flights will begin in January 2020 with plans to expand to North America by 2024. The airline’s attention to detail has created great excitement in the airline community and public: cabins designed by BMW’s Designworks Studio, an impressive in-flight entertainment system, elegant uniforms, free wi-fi for all, an exclusive fragrance, a highly entertaining safety video, and the very music created by White. As a departure from the traditional airline, on-board music style, STARLUX asked that White bring in his special sound for their airline. Founder and CEO Kuo-Wei Chang grew fond of White’s music while studying in the United States and would listen to it while driving. It was his idea to have the guitarist create music for the airline to immerse passengers in a relaxed and happy atmosphere as soon as they board and to enhance their comfort while flying. White’s career began when he was invited to play keyboards for folk-rock singer Al Stewart in the 1970s. His first studio experience was at Abbey Roads Studio recording Stewart’s ‘Year of the Cat’ album with producer Alan Parsons.

I would like to start with my advisor and chair, Dr. Allen Finchum, who not only happens to share my interest in smooth jazz, but has always been there for me. One could not ask for a better mentor, as he was always so giving of his time, whether we were discussing my research, talking about my experiences as a graduate instructor, or him just taking an interest in my personal life. I feel blessed to have been able to work with such a special graduate committee, comprised of Dr. Jon Comer, Dr. Brad Bays, and Dr. Tom Lanners. Dr. Comer sparked my passion for quantitative methods and spatial analysis, and Dr. Bays taught my very first course at OSU, a wonderful and stimulating seminar in historical geography. With Dr. Lanners, I could not have asked for a better fit for my outside committee member, and I feel privileged to have been able to work with a musician of his caliber.
