Northside Christian School Mindi Abair Dinner Series Grammy nominated, Northside Christian School Alumnus Mindi Abair is one of the most recognizable saxophonists in the USA. Mindi Abair has sold a half million records as a solo artist, but you may know her as the featured saxophonist on American Idol for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Over the past 2 years she has toured the US with Aerosmith as their only saxophonist since 1973, sat in for a night with Bruce Springsteen at the famed Beacon Theater, and even taken the saxophone chair over for 2 shows with Paul Shaffer and the Late Show with David Letterman. As a solo artist, she has carved out her own brand as the rocker of the jazz world, and she adds a refreshingly unique voice to an exciting new generation of crossover artists. She was raised on the road with her father’s band, but this is not your father’s jazz band. Mindi brings a fearless energy and abandon to the stage as a powerhouse on the saxophone, hearkening back to the days of Junior Walker or King Curtis. Her solo career has produced ten #1 radio singles and six major label solo releases that have topped the Contemporary Jazz Charts, “It Just Happens That Way” (2003), “Come As You Are” (2004), “Life Less Ordi- nary” (2006), “Stars” (2008), and “In Hi Fi Stereo” (2010), "Summer Horns" with Dave Koz, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot (2013). The list of artists she has toured or recorded with are a testament to her talent. White launched his career as a keyboardist touring with Al Stewart and worked with him in the studio on the classic album Year of the Cat. The tour and that album marked the beginning of a 20-year association with Stewart. During that time, the two musicians co-wrote numerous songs, including Stewart’s 1978 hit, “Time Passages.” After years as a backup musician and a session player, White launched his solo recording career and his annual Christmas tour is fueled by the success of his two highly regarded holiday albums, Songs of the Season (1997) and A Peter White Christmas (2007). Braun adds his stylistically eclectic trumpeting to the mix. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Guitarist Peter White Releases ‘Music for STARLUX Airlines’ White releases album ahead of STARLUX Airlines launch DECEMBER 5, 2019 - Although he has never had a guitar lesson in his life, Peter White has become known as one of the jazz industry’s greatest icons. For over forty years, he has worked with many music greats, recorded eighteen solo and collaboration albums, performed before countless audiences, and most recently, created a special collection of songs for STARLUX Airlines. STARLUX Airlines is a new, luxury airline based in Taiwan. Official flights will begin in January 2020 with plans to expand to North America by 2024. The airline’s attention to detail has created great excitement in the airline community and public: cabins designed by BMW’s Designworks Studio, an impressive in-flight entertainment system, elegant uniforms, free wi-fi for all, an exclusive fragrance, a highly entertaining safety video, and the very music created by White. As a departure from the traditional airline, on-board music style, STARLUX asked that White bring in his special sound for their airline. Founder and CEO Kuo-Wei Chang grew fond of White’s music while studying in the United States and would listen to it while driving. It was his idea to have the guitarist create music for the airline to immerse passengers in a relaxed and happy atmosphere as soon as they board and to enhance their comfort while flying. White’s career began when he was invited to play keyboards for folk-rock singer Al Stewart in the 1970s. His first studio experience was at Abbey Roads Studio recording Stewart’s ‘Year of the Cat’ album with producer Alan Parsons.
