Application of Nishina Canter for Associate Membership

RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-based Science Director Hideto En’yo Thanks a lot for this invitation 2

 In 2009, I assumed the director of RIKEN Nishina Center  Immediately after, I asked NuPECC that we would like to be an observer of NuPECC  Our request was not accepted. Asian Nuclear Association (ANPhA) received the observer status. We apply today for an associate member of NuPECC. RIKEN’s No. 2 (1943)

Dr. Yoshio Nishina (1890-1951) “The Father of Nuclear Science in Japan” Studied at Cambridge, Gottingen and Institute

Theorist (Klein-Nishina Formula)

Experimentalist (Particle, Nuclear Physics Cosmic-ray Physics)

Accelerator Builder (CW, 1937, 1943)

From “Profile” by Ken Domon M. Kobayashi H.Maskawa Y.Nambu -4- IN 1931 NISHINA BECAME THE CHIEF SCIENTIST OF RIKEN AND OPEN NISHINA LABORATORY.

Lawrence’s 1st and Nishina’s 1st Cyclotron

In 1940, Nishina discovered element 93 using this cyclotron, but unable to do purified isolation. Then later element 93 was named (Np!!!) by McMillan. Lawrence and Nishina 5

We will continue to be a good host.  Once all the New Facilities take off and fully functional at CERN, INFN Legnaro, GANIL, and then GSI, you will be too busy in Europe.  But still, we continue to collaborate and share the resource, since our budget and scientific intelligence is not infinite.
