During one week this summer, Inlandsbanan in cooperation with the Railway Museum offers a unique and exclusive train holiday, starting in Stockholm and finishing in Gällivare in Swedish . Part of the journey will be operated by steam train. Passengers travel in comfortable 1st class carriages from the 20th century, with on-board bar and restaurant.

Good food is an important part of the trip and all meals are included in the package tour. Some of the meals will be served in the train restaurant, with linen-clad table cloths and spectacular views over a beautiful countryside. You will also experience various well-known restaurants along the track serving traditional delicacies. In addition to an unforgettable journey through , the train stops along the way to enable you to discover the rich cultural offerings of inland Sweden.

ITINERARY DAY BY DAY

Mon 2 July | Stockholm - Mora The Wilderness Train departs from Stockholm Central station in the morning for the first stretch taking us to Mora in the county of Dalecarlia. Besides enjoying the train ride, you will be served a delicious lunch in the restaurant carriage before visiting Verket/Avesta Art, where industrial history and contemporary art are in focus. In the early evening we arrive at Mora, the final destination of the day. A two-course dinner is served at the hotel and afterwards we recommend a stroll along beautiful lake Siljan.

Tue 3 July | Mora – Fågelsjö - Östersund In the morning the steam locomotive takes us north along Inlandsbanan. The first stretch includes a photo stop and a traditional Swedish “fika”. The steam locomotive will also get a top- up of water. In Fågelsjö a visit at the world heritage manor house, Hälsingegården ”Bortom Åa”, is one of the highlights of the day, with a guided tour and summer lunch. After a second stop in Sveg, where you will have time to experience the town on your own, the train continues through the county of Härjedalen, wellknown for its wilderness and being the home of bears. Dinner is served on board with beautiful views surrounding us. In the evening the steam train travels the last bit along lake Storsjön, where the great lake monster lives, before finally reaching the town of Östersund in Jämtland. Wed 4 July | Östersund - Vilhelmina PRICE PER PERSON After breakfast a guided tour at the famous outdoor museum Jamtli awaits together with lunch all-inclusive package 5 nights at Restaurant Hov, Östersund’s oldest restaurant. Afterwards, take a stroll at your own leisure

The package tour ends in Gällivare and you arrange the return journey by yourself. If you want to stay a few more days in the area, Gällivare offers many interesting sights and exciting activities, amongst others the mountain Dundret with farstretched views over the beautiful north, as well as the mining area at Malmberget. From the tourist office by the railway station, there are a variety of tours and the staff will give you plenty of tips of what to do in Gällivare.

If you plan on renting a car, the original Ice Hotel is only an hour’s drive away, north towards . Visit the world famous hotel and art exhibition made of ice and snow. In 2016 ICEHOTEL 365 opened and can be visited year-round and is cooled by solar panels during the summer months.
