Spring Aurora Biannual 20th - 21st May 2021 Hosted By On May 20th and 21st, Aurora will hold its 10th Biannual Meeting proudly organised by the University of Iceland. This Online Biannual will be a unique and exciting event where Aurora academics, students, university leaders and administrators will come together to continue ongoing work, meet new colleagues, celebrate existing friendships and reflect on the future of our ambitious cooperation! The Biannual programme features addresses from Adrienn Király from the European Commission, Lilja Alfreðsdóttir, Minister of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland, Jón Atli Benediktsson, rector of the University of Iceland and President of the Aurora Universities Network and Mirjam van Praag, President of the Executive Board at the VU and President of the Aurora European Universities Alliance. Over the two days we will also have a mix of open informative sessions, perfect for those that are not yet involved in the work of Aurora but eager to learn more, and closed working sessions for colleagues that are working hard to deliver on our various ambitious projects. The Biannual will also give us a chance to reflect on the changing landscape in higher education, in particular in a panel discussion featuring Prof. Paul Boyle, the vice-chancellor of Swansea University, UK and EUA Vice-President, Prof. Yassine Lakhnech, president of the University of Grenoble Alpes, and Emily Reise, member of the Student Council of the University of Iceland and Aurora Student Council Secretary. Aurora also welcomes President Joan Gabel of the University of Minnesota as a guest of honour. President Gabel will take part in the “Sustainability” session and share her views on the topic. Registration & Virtual venue The virtual conference platform will allow us to switch between formal sessions and meeting informally and casually as we see each other passing by the Aurora Biannual lounges. You will also be able to visit our poster session room to explore the many themes within our Alliance. Join us by registering through this link and indicate which sessions you will attend! Your registration will need to be confirmed by the Aurora institutional coordinator in your University. Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive information on how to log on to the virtual conference platform and instructions on how to navigate it. Once on the platform, if you have any questions or experience difficulties you may ask Maria José Montana Correa who will be present on the ground floor lobby. We look forward to seeing you there!
